 Barceló Hotels & Resorts Appoints Anthony G. Stone
as Director of Sales, North America

Miami, January 4, 2006 � Barceló Hotels & Resorts today announced the appointment of Anthony G. Stone as Director of Sales.  He joins Fiona Taylor, Linda Finley and Rick McCauley as Barceló continues to enhance its North American sales and marketing team.  In this position, Mr. Stone will be an integral part of the Barceló sales and marketing team that serves the travel industry trade representing Barceló Hotels & Resorts that are located throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.  Mr. Stone is headquartered in Cleveland, OH and can be reached at: [email protected].  
 
Mr. Stone�s appointment comes in conjunction with the December 23rd opening of the five-star Barceló Maya Tropical Beach & Colonial Beach hotels.  These two new luxury hotels join the existing two properties to comprise the largest all-inclusive beachfront resort and conference center on Mexico�s Riviera Maya.   The Company also recently acquired the La Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel in Puerto Vallarta.  In addition, Barceló Hotels and Resorts is placing a growing emphasis on marketing its Punta Cana, Dominican Republic resort to US travelers.

Mr. Stone brings more than 20 years of hospitality industry sales experience.  He joins Barceló from Occidental Hotels & Resorts where he was National Director of Tour and Travel Sales.  Prior to that position, Mr. Stone was Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Marc Resorts, HI, and Director of Sales for Astor Hotels and Resorts, HI.  He has also held executive positions with Regal Travel, and United Airlines.  Mr. Stone is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Business Management.
