 Sharon A. Liggett Named President and CEO of the
Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. � Sharon A. Liggett has been named president and CEO of the Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Her responsibilities include enhancing the appreciation of Leon County and surrounding areas as a unique destination by promoting visitor experiences that stimulate economic development.

Liggett, a Florida native, returns to Tallahassee full-time after a six year stint in Washington, D.C. where she worked primarily in the governmental sector including the White House, the U.S. Senate with Senator Bob Graham and most recently as deputy chief of staff to U.S. House Member, Jane Harman. Formerly, Liggett had more than 22 years of experience in the Tallahassee market with emphasis in event planning, advertising/marketing and sales.

�We are excited to have Sharon�s insight as part of our team and look forward to her integral role in bringing visitors to Tallahassee,� says Tom Waits, chairman of the Leon County Tourist Development Council. �Her previous local community expertise is a great asset.�

In implementing the mission of the CVB, Liggett�s primary focus is the new strategic and marketing plan. Her personal goals include developing a teamwork culture and an environment of creativity, increasing the quality and efficiency of services, focusing on member recruitment and programs, as well as optimizing technology.

Liggett earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla., and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. She is also a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee Class XV.
 
During 2004, Tallahassee/Leon County attracted 2.8 million visitors generating more than $805 million in direct spending and supporting the employment of nearly 16,000 people.
