|LOS ANGELES - Dec. 7, 2005 -- The California Hotel & Lodging Association
(CH&LA) inducted Don Johnson, CHA, President & CEO of Vagabond
Franchise System, Inc. into the CH&LA Hall of Fame tonight in Los Angeles,
near the Vagabond corporate headquarters at the Crowne Plaza LAX. The Hall
of Fame award is CH&LA's most prestigious honor, presented to California
hoteliers or industry executives recognized for outstanding contributions
of leadership, service, and professionalism to the California lodging industry
and the community at large.
Don Johnson, CHA was the 19th recipient of the CH&LA Hall of Fame award. As President & CEO of Vagabond Franchise System, Inc., Don was honored for his tireless support of the lodging industry. Don is currently the California Hotel & Lodging Association's Director to CH&LA's national affiliate, the American Hotel & Lodging Association. Don has been an active member of the CH&LA Board of Directors since 1994, and was CH&LA's Chairperson in 2002. Don serves on the CH&LA Executive Committee, as well as CH&LA's Governmental Affairs Committee, Audit Committee, and the Educational Committee. Don is also heavily involved in the California Lodging Industry Legislative Awareness Summit Planning Committee, an event he has been instrumental in starting and growing into the premier industry legislative event in California. Don was recognized with CH&LA's Most Valuable Volunteer Award in 2004.
The proceeds from this year's Hall of Fame event benefited the CH&LA Educational Foundation. Generous sponsorships from Association Services & Insurance Brokers, ABD Insurance/Financial Services, Jani-King, Gevity, the law firm of Greenberg Taurig and a very successful silent auction of items donated by CH&LA members all benefited the CH&LA Educational Foundation.
"Don's selfless donation of time and effort on behalf of the industry, both statewide as well as nationally, are truly indicative of his commitment to the industry," said James O. Abrams, President & CEO of CH&LA. "Don is a shining example to all others in the industry."
