products
. In
the lodging industry, Minteks success is a result of its dynamic Lodging
Asset Management Suite, a set of planning tools that provide for management
oversight and notification. The Suite includes the following: WinTrack
PM, Asset Director, Maintenance Portal, Work Order Kiosk and Alerts.
Minteks lodging solutions have been implemented in 275 hotels.
Tracking, maintaining
and managing any lodging asset is easily done through a powerful solution
that combines handheld devices, bar coding and Internet capability, says
Mark Sokol, director of product marketing for Mintek. The result is lower
equipment and labor costs, improved asset capital planning and an enhanced
guest experience.
In the cable industry, Mintek has developed and sold several highly successful, automated applicationsSETS (Subscriber Equipment Tracking System), Sales Force Automation (SFA) and Tap Auditthat provide universal billing system access and also incorporate handhelds and bar coding. SETS, licensed in 650 locations, streamlines the customer premise equipment (CPE) tracking, reconciliation and data entry processes. SFA adds efficiencies to the cable service sales processfrom building route lists to printing customer receipts. Tap Audit is an easy-to-use security system for generating passing lists, capturing unauthorized connections and household voids. Minteks focus has changed significantly since it was founded in 1987. In its early years, it was primarily a value-added reseller of items such as labels, scanners, printers and other devices utilizing bar code technology. By the mid-1990s, the companys cable customers began asking for more than data collection hardware. Teaming with one of those customers, Mintek examined the problems associated with CPE management and developed an automated data collection systemSETS. Mintek expanded its focus and reach to the lodging industry in 1999. Jerimi Ford, Minteks vice president in charge of development and support, drove the development of the companys user-friendly lodging and cable solutions. Our intent all along was to develop systems that were simple enough to use and that would weed out inefficiencies in work processes, Ford says. What we have also done is universalize access to valuable information that previously may have existed in just one persons office. Hutton says Mintek will continue to invest research dollars in pursuit of advanced, automated solutions for its lodging and cable customers. Our plan is to continue to grow in the industries in which we have a strong presence, and continue to offer our customers cutting edge technology and products, he says. We will continue to pursue our vision of providing access to information from anywhere by using Internet, wireless, GPS, RFID and other technologies. With the continued support of our customers and hard-working employees, we expect to continue to be leaders in the cable and lodging sectors while at the same time exploring opportunities in other industries. About Software Magazine, The IT Software Journal, and Softwaremag.com: Software Magazine, The IT Sofware Journal, has been a brand name in the high-tech industry for more than 20 years.
