Convention Center

Schaumburg, IL (July 22, 2005) – Renaissance Hotels announced today that Tom Robertson will serve as General Manager for the highly-anticipated Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg, Illinois when it opens in mid-2006.

Tom brings with him extensive hospitality and convention experience, working with Marriott Intl. since 1973.   He continued working for Marriott while earning an Engineering degree from the University of Missouri.  After graduation, he progressed through the ranks and got his first Executive Committee assignment in 1988 as Director of Food and Beverage at the South Bend Marriott Hotel in South Bend, Indiana.  In 1990, Robertson moved on to hold positions as Director of Food and Beverage, Resident Manager, and Director of Operations at the Westchester Marriott Hotel in New York.  From there, Tom embarked a convention center project when he became Director of Food and Beverage for the Philadelphia Marriott Convention Center Hotel in 1998.

Robertson accepted the General Manager position at the Springfield Marriott Hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts in late 1999 and led the hotel to record sales and profit figures for two consecutive years.  He began working with the Renaissance Hotels brand in March 2002 when he assumed the position of General Manager at the Renaissance Chicago O’Hare Suites, a title he held until his most recent position at the 518-room Renaissance Dallas Hotel in 2003.

“We are pleased to have someone of Tom’s expertise managing this exciting project”, says Randy G. Griffin, Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Renaissance Hotels North America.  “His leadership skills, recruitment experience, and long history of hotel management success stories made him the ideal fit for the new Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center.”
