Dallas, TX, August 1, 2005: With a ceremonial turn of the shovel, groundbreaking
was completed on July 25, 2005, for the new Holiday Inn in Denton, Texas,
and the journey began towards a Summer 2006 completion date. Denton city
dignitaries present included Mayor Pro-Tem Dr. Perry McNeill; Chuck Carpenter,
President of the Denton Chamber of Commerce; and officials from the Denton
City Council and Chamber of Commerce. Lone Oak Hospitality LTD was
represented by Gaylord Hall, Melvin Sanders, and Glenn Gunter. Attending
from InterContinental Hotels Group was Greg Aden, Regional Director of
Franchise Development. Hospitality Management Corporation was represented
by Leo Spriggs, President/CEO; Tom Clancy, VP of Sales/Marketing; and John
O�Connor, Director of Operations.
. The hotel is a carefully developed concept that combines high-tech innovations with high level customer service. The 153 guest rooms include 24 luxury suites, and are designed to be elegant and cutting edge; each equipped with a data port featuring high-speed Internet access; two phone lines with caller ID and voice mail; coffee maker; refrigerator; hair dryer, and weekday newspapers. The main floor will offer Kem�s Café, a lounge, 24-hour convenience store, 24-hour business center, indoor swimming pool, whirlpool spa, and fitness center. The hotel�s flexible meeting space will be convenient and totally state-of-the-art to meet the technical requirements of guests. The hotel will be strategically located only minutes away from downtown Denton, University of North Texas, Texas Women�s University, Denton Regional Medical Hospital, Denton Surgical Centers, and Presbyterian Hospital. In addition to the Holiday Inn, plans for this high-quality urban development include a mixed-use residential district that will support luxury residential units, office, retail space, and a convention center. Adjacent to this urban development six acres of park area will be created, preserving existing trees at the site. The general contractor for the project is McSpadden Construction of Waxahachie, TX; the Hudson Group of Grand Prairie, TX, provided architectural support; and the hotel will be managed by Hospitality Management Corporation of Dallas. Hospitality Management Corporation (HMC), founded in 1971, is a privately owned independent management company and is one of the oldest independent hotel management firms in the lodging industry. For over three decades, HMC has provided hotel management services for third party institutional and private owners. The company�s headquarters has been located in Dallas, Texas since its inception. |
