Tjaco van Eijken Appointed to Executive Chef of SPOON by Alain Ducasse |
HONG KONG, August 12, 2005 -- InterContinental Hong Kong is pleased
to announce the culinary appointments of Laurent André and Tjaco
van Eiken. Laurent André has been promoted to Executive Chef
of the entire hotel, leaving his post as Executive Chef of SPOON by Alain
Ducasse at InterContinental Hong Kong. Taking over the position of Executive
Chef at SPOON will be Tjaco van Eiken.

In his new role, Chef André oversees the hotel�s five internationally acclaimed restaurants which include SPOON by Alain Ducasse at InterContinental Hong Kong, Yü, Yan Toh Heen, the Steak House Wine Bar & Grill, and Harbourside. He heads a team of more than 110 chefs and is responsible for the daily culinary operations of the entire hotel, including Hong Kong's largest hotel banqueting facility, two lounges, the poolside café, and the hotel�s 24-hour room service. Chef André has worked with Mr. Ducasse for more than fifteen years and has opened several of Ducasse�s restaurants. Previous work experience for Chef Andre includes esteemed positions at the Hotel de Lassay, the Alain Chapel restaurant in Mionnay (three-Michelin star), the Louis XV restaurant at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco (three-Michelin star), La Grande Cascade in Paris (one-Michelin star), and Spoon at Sanderson in London. SPOON�s new Executive Chef Tjaco van Eijken recently moved to Hong Kong from Mr. Ducasse�s Il Cortile restaurant in Paris (one-Michelin star). Previously, Chef van Eijken was sous chef at the La Rive restaurant at the Amstel InterContinental Hotel in Amsterdam (two-Michelin star). Additional credentials include assignments at the Restaurant Dorlote in Amersfoort, Restaurant Tante Koosje in Loenen a/d Vecht (one-Michelin star) and Restaurant Chablis in Hilversum, all in his native Netherlands. |
