John W. Maibach Appointed General Manager for
the 84 room Black Point Inn on the Maine Coast

.

Prouts Neck, Scarborough, Maine, May, 2005 -   The Black Point Inn is pleased to announce that John W. Maibach has been appointed general manager for the historic 84-guestroom seaside resort, which reopened for the season under new ownership on April 26, 2005.

Maibach, a veteran of the hospitality industry with extensive experience at the luxury end of the hotel spectrum, will be overseeing the Black Point Inns permanent and seasonal staff of 90 employees. Top priorities include the implementation of elevated service standards and the creation of recreational programs and amenities to enhance the guest experience at this quintessential New England destination.

The Black Point Inn traditionally has been a legendary destination for four star service in an unparalleled setting, said Maibach. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to take to the inn to new heights by offering a guest experience second to none. The inn received the 2005 Award of Excellence by Zagat Surveys.

Maibach was most recently director of operations for The Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston. During his tenure there he revitalized the hotel by refining service and offering a locally authentic guest experience. Prior to that, he served at The Plaza in New York City for 10 years, working his way up from conference services manager to executive director of rooms.

The Black Point Inn is being acquired through a lease/purchase agreement by BPI Partners, LLC, an investor group with deep roots in the local community. The inn is listed on the National Registry of Historic Hotels of America and is considered one of Maines grandest seaside resorts.

Built in 1878 by the Kahler family at the tip of Prouts Neck, a source of inspiration for noted American artist Winslow Homer, the Black Point Inn enjoys one of the most spectacular settings along Maines ruggedly beautiful coastline. Nestled on nine lushly landscaped acres, the property is surrounded on three sides by ocean and commands magnificent water views. The inn has been a beloved destination for generations and is a sought after venue for weddings and business functions. Amenities include a fine dining restaurant, property-wide wireless (WI-FI) internet access, outdoor pool overlooking the ocean, heated indoor pool with nearby jacuzzi and sauna, fitness room and access to miles of enchanting beaches.

The Black Point Inn is located at 510 Black Point Road in Prouts Neck, Maine.
