Hyatt, San Diego, Named Managing Director of Manchester Grand Resorts |
June 2, 2005 - Thomas J. Voss, formerly the General Manager at the
largest hotel in Southern California, the 1,625-room Manchester Grand Hyatt,
San Diego on San Diego Bay, has been elevated to Managing Director of all
Manchester Grand Resorts. This includes the Manchester Grand Hyatt, Whitetail
Club, an exclusive, four-season golf and sporting resort and private residential
community in McCall, Idaho, downtown San Diego's Marriott Hotel and Marina,
and The Grand Del Mar Hotel, Spa and luxury residence villas currently
under construction on the 400-acre Grand Golf Club in Del Mar, California.
You can take the man out of Europe, but you cannot take Europe out of the man. This is one of the key elements that first attracted Voss to the Manchester Grand Resorts executive team. Voss was born and raised in a 5-Star hotel environment and educated in Kiel, Germany, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Business Administration. He walks and talks European hospitality, adding that 'certain something,' that essence of elevated service and guest care and satisfaction that many American hotels seem to lack. Voss, who is fluent in English, German and French, began his hotel career more than 25 years ago in Germany. He has managed major international hotels in Germany, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, and the Sultanate of Oman. After coming to America, he also completed graduate level studies in Hotel Business Administration at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He has managed American hotels in Cambridge, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Irvine, and, of course, San Diego. Voss recently relocated his offices from the downtown Manchester Grand Resorts world headquarters on the 33rd floor of the Manchester Grand Hyatt, to a spectacularly decorated, converted home across from The Grand Golf Club in Del Mar, to oversee the hiring, marketing, operations, staff development and guest services that will be implemented at The Grand Del Mar Hotel & Spa, and luxury residence villas on the 400-acre site that includes The Grand Golf Club. Completion date for the resort is December 2006. "When finished," says Voss, "this will be the only true 5-Star resort in all of San Diego County." |
