June 23, 2005 - Nicholas D. Davaz has been appointed general manager
of the historic landmark Victorian estate Simpson House Inn. With
extensive experience in hotel operations including rooms division, food
and beverage, sales and marketing and human resources, Davaz joins Simpson
House Inn as a hotel professional with a proven leadership record.
Davaz was the general manager of El Encanto Hotel & Garden Villas in Santa Barbara. While in the aftermath of 9/11 and the untimely death of the hotel�s owner, Davaz was able to increase profitability in total revenue, hotel profit, food and beverage revenue and average rate. He instituted yield and revenue management programs and developed effective marketing and advertising plans that led to television and print media exposure. His successful efforts to re-position the hotel through immediate and accurate situation analysis, sound strategic planning, cultural realignment, and the adoption of an approachable first-class service orientation were crucial in preparing the hotel for its recent sale. Prior to El Encanto Hotel & Garden Villas he served as the executive assistant manager of Bacara Resort & Spa. In this role, Davaz oversaw revenues of up to $40 million and more than 400 employees. Davaz ran his own special event promotions and logistics business from 1999 to 2001. He has also worked as the director of catering for both Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers and The Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon and has worked for Westin Hotels� human resources department. Davaz holds a bachelor�s degree in Journalism/ Public Relations from the University of Kansas. The Simpson House Inn, located at 121 East Arrellaga Street in Santa Barbara, CA, is a privately owned Victorian Estate within walking distance of downtown Santa Barbara. It was built in 1874 by Robert Simpson and restored by the Davies family in 1976. The Landmarks Commission honored the property with a Structure of Merit Award and Landmark status for its unique architecture and period setting. |
