K Partners Hospitality Group LP Building a Hawthorn
Suites Hotel Adjacent to the Laredo (Texas)
Entertainment Center

LAREDO, TEXAS (June 2, 2005) – San Antonio-based K Partners Hospitality Group, LP will break ground this month on a Hawthorn Suites hotel adjacent to the Laredo Entertainment Center (LEC) at the intersection of Jacaman Road and Bob Bullock Loop 20 in Laredo, pursuant to an agreement with Arena Ventures LLC.

The 70,000 square-foot hotel will include 100 suites, meeting space, and lounge and entertainment facilities, and will join numerous restaurants and retail establishments within the new LEC Development.  The hotel will be constructed by WKM Companies of San Antonio and managed by Pagosa Management Corporation.  Laredo-based International Bank of Commerce is providing the funding.

“We are excited about the Laredo economy, and in particular, about the activity at the Laredo Entertainment Center,” said Tim Sanford, COO of K Partners Hospitality Group, LP.  “We look forward to opening a quality all-suites hotel that will be ideal for everyone from vacationers to professionals visiting this fast-growing community.”

K Partners currently owns and operates three more Hawthorn Suites hotels in Aransas Pass, Lubbock and San Angelo, Texas.

“Arena Ventures is excited to welcome Hawthorn Suites to the Laredo Entertainment Center Development,” said Kiki DeAyala, president of Arena Ventures.  “Hotels are a much-needed amenity on the northeast side of Laredo, and the widely-recognized quality and hospitality of Hawthorn Suites is a welcome addition.”

DeAyala added, “Hawthorn Suites is a perfect fit with our model of bringing together different types of new businesses to the development.  The hotel, along with the LEC, Hal’s Landing and the megaplex Hollywood Theater, solidifies the LEC Development as the premier entertainment district in ‘Los dos Laredos.’  The potential to drive close to 2 million annual visitors to the district brings unparalleled business opportunities for both local entrepreneurs and national corporations.”
