April 1, 2005 - The Navy Lodge Program opened the doors to its 43rd
Navy Lodge at Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove, Philadelphia,
Pa., on March 28, 2005.
"We are excited to open this beautiful new Navy Lodge," said Michael
Bockelman, director, Navy Lodge Program. "Naval Air Station/Joint
Reserve Base Willow Grove serves military personnel from all services.
This Navy Lodge will offer them all a comfortable and affordable place
to stay when they are on a permanent change of station (PCS) move or just
visiting the base. On average, Navy Lodge guests save an average
of 40 percent as compared to a civilian hotel, not including sales tax."
Petty Officer Brian & Jennifer Burnette, Grand Rapids, Mich., are the first guests at Navy Lodge Willow Grove. The new 52-room Navy Lodge features oversized rooms laid out for the family and the military service member. The Business Class room has a queen-sized bed, pull out couch, Internet connection, a large desk with task lighting and kitchenette. The Standard rooms has two queen-sized beds, lounge chair and kitchenette. All Navy Lodge rooms are air conditioned, have satellite TV with HBO, DVD player, CD player, direct-dial telephone service and a kitchenette complete with large refrigerator, microwave and utensils. Guests will also find housekeeping service, vending machines, DVD rental service and guest laundry facilities as well as handicapped accessible rooms. In addition, the Navy Lodge features free local calls, coffee and newspapers as well as convenient on-base parking. The Navy Lodge is a non-smoking facility. Nearby amenities include the Navy Exchange, bowling, gym, Cyber Cafe, Delaware Valley Historical Aircraft Museum and swimming pools. |
