Prior to his appointment as General Manager of Pan Pacific San Francisco, Mengiste was most recently Executive Director of Hotel Operations for the 2,700 room, Wynn Resort in Las Vegas.  Additionally, Sileshi held General Manager assignments at The St. Regis in Houston and San Francisco's Four Seasons Clift Hotel as well as management positions with The Orchard Hotel (formerly The Rex) in San Francisco, San Francisco's Sir Francis Drake Hotel and Insel Hotel in Bonn, West Germany.

Born in Ethiopia, Mengiste is a graduate of Kenya Utalii College in Nairobi, Kenya as well as San Francisco's Golden Gate University.  He is returning to the San Francisco Bay Area with wife and two children.
