Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has appointed Julie Jackson Director of
Sales & Marketing for Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang and Golden Sands
Resorts in Penang, Malaysia.
Jackson assumes the responsibility of promoting and marketing Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort which is undergoing a RM100 million (about US$26.3million) redevelopment and repositioning program. She will also oversee its sister property, Shangri-La's Golden Sands Resort, located next to the Rasa Sayang along the scenic Batu Feringgi Beach. Marketing of Shangri-La Maldives Resort & Spa (under construction) and then as part of the task forceJackson has been with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts for one year, initially as Director of Sales and on the pre-opening team of Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Prior to joining Shangri-La, Jackson spent three years with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, most recently stationed in Hong Kong as Director of Sales and Marketing with the Westin Resort Macau. Jackson also spent seven years with Accor Asia Pacific and prior to her move to the hospitality industry she spent 15 years in international airline sales and marketing. Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels
and Resorts currently manages 46 hotels under the Shangri-La and
Traders Hotels brands, in Australia, mainland China, Fiji, Hong Kong,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan
and the United Arab Emirates with a rooms inventory of over
21,000. In addition, the group has over 20 projects under
development in Canada, mainland China, India, Malaysia, Maldives,
Mongolia, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
