Klaus Lapp Named Managing Director
 at Paradisus Puerto Rico


RIO GRANDE, P.R.  (March 23, 2005) -- Andre Gerondeau, executive vice president Central-North America for Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts, is pleased to announce the appointment of Klaus Lapp as the new managing director of the 500-room Paradisus Puerto Rico, the island’s first all-inclusive, luxury resort.

Lapp will be responsible for the 44-acrebeachfront resort, including oversight and management of the 600-plus staff, its six food and beverage outlets, rooms and sales and marketing, with the objective of maintaining the highest levels of guest satisfaction.

“Klaus was an obvious choice for us,” said Gerondeau. “His proven track record and experience with upscale properties is a perfect match for the high standards of service we are providing at Paradisus Puerto Rico.”

after an impressive career in the hospitality industry that spans over 20 years. Prior to joining Paradisus Puerto Rico, Lapp was the general manager of the Villarrica Park Lake, a Deluxe Collection Hotel affiliated with SRS Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts in Chile.

Lapp’s experience includes the position of general manager of Swissotel Lima in Peru, which is managed by Raffles Hotels and Resorts. From 1997 to 2001, he held the general manager position at Caesar Park Panama.  He also managed the 226-room Hyatt Cancun Caribe Villas & Resort.

Lapp graduated in Hotel Management from the Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland. He has occupied general management courses from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.

Paradisus Puerto Rico consists of 500 oversized luxurious junior suites in 20 two-story bungalows, two golf courses, three tennis courts, a spa & health club, six restaurants, four bars, a casino and the most
complete variety of beach and water sport activities in Puerto Rico.
