Appoints New Executives

HONG KONG (March 2, 2005) - Jean-Jacques Reibel, Managing Director, InterContinental Hong Kong is pleased to announce the following new appointments to the hotel's management team.

Claus Pedersen, Director of Food and Beverage

Claus Pedersen, Director of Food and Beverage, joined the InterContinental Hong Kong team on February 1, 2005. With a wealth of international experience, Claus most recently served as Director of Operations at the Hilton Otaru and as Director of Food and Beverage at Hilton Nagoya in Japan.

Claus launched his career as a hotel trainee at the Hotel Vaegtergaarden in his native Denmark. After gaining work experience in Denmark, Claus left his home country to pursue a truly international career in the hotel industry in cities such as Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Cairo, Valencia (Venezuela), London and Edinburgh. In total, Claus boasts 15 years of international hotel experience.

Philippe Langlois, SPOON Manager

Philippe Langlois, the new SPOON Manager, joins InterContinental Hong Kong from South Beach in Miami, Florida where he was Restaurant Manager of the Blue Door at Ian Schrager's Delano Hotel.  Philippe's career includes experience at some of the world's most prestigious restaurants, including the tremendously successful Café Boulud in New York where he was in charge of hiring staff and operation management.

Throughout his career, Philippe has had many encounters with stars -- Michelin stars that is. Early in his career, he worked at the 2 Michelin star restaurant, L'Auberge des Templiers, in Paris and later worked with Michel Rostand, a 2 Michelin star chef at the Hotel Plaza Athenee, New York.

Philippe's most recent 3 Michelin star encounter was in Paris where he acted as the General Manager of SA Carre des Champs Elysees, a company owned by the French group, Vivendi. Here Philippe oversaw 105 employees and ensured the smooth operation of its gourmet restaurant, Ledoyen.  His other 2 Michelin star experiences include the Hotel Ritz in Paris where he served as Director of Restaurants, and Hotel de Crillon in Paris where he was Restaurant Manager.

Trevor Owen, Director of Marketing

Trevor Owen, the hotel's new Director of Marketing, joins InterContinental Hong Kong from Madrid, Spain, where he spent the past year as Area Director of Sales for InterContinental Hotels Group, overseeing 20 hotels in Spain, France, Italy and Malta.  Trevor grew up in Canada where he studied Hotel and Restaurant Hospitality, and then began his hotel career at the InterContinental Toronto where he was named the top sales manager in 1991 and 1992.  His professional career has spanned assignments in major cities such as London, New York and Toronto, mostly with InterContinental Hotels Group.  In addition, he spent five years with Langham Hilton, Millennium Britania Hotels and opened St. Martins Lane in London.

During his career with InterContinental Hotels Group, Trevor has served as Director of Corporate Accounts at the InterContinental the Barclay in New York and as Director of Sales at the Churchill InterContinental Hotel in London.

Fiona Wong, Marketing Services Manager

In the newly created position of Marketing Service Manager, Fiona Wong brings a wealth of media planning experience to InterContinental Hong Kong. Most recently she was a Media Planner at Mediaedge:cia Pte Limited, where she looked after the InterContinental Hong Kong.  Fiona has also worked as an Account Manager at Systex Information Pte Limited and as a Media Planner for Dentsu Young and Rubicum -The Media Edge.

Lucia Shum, Director of Events

Lucia Shum has a decade's experience in the hotel industry with Conrad Hong Kong. She started as a Catering Coordinator and was then promoted to Catering Sales Manager, Business Development Manager (Catering) and Catering Manager.  Most recently, Lucia spent the past five years as Assistant Director of Catering at the Conrad where she was in charge of group corporate business and worked with a wide variety of clients from banking and financial sectors and consulates, as well as the information technology, insurance and fashion industries.

Brenda Cheung, Assistant Director of Events

Brenda Cheung joins InterContinental Hong Kong following one and a half years as the Catering and Conference Services Manager at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, where she was responsible for overseeing catering functions and meeting groups. Previously, she has worked as the Catering Manager at the Harbour Plaza Hong Kong, Assistant Catering Manager at the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Banquet Sales Manager at The Repulse Bay Co., Ltd., and Senior Banquet Sales Executive at Hotel Victoria.

Caroline Ng, Club InterContinental Manager

A graduate of Les Roches Hotel Management School, Switzerland, Caroline Ng is our new Club InterContinental Manager. Starting as a Front Desk Clerk at the JW Marriott Hotel, Hong Kong, Caroline was then promoted to Guest Relations Officer, Executive Lounge Supervisor where she opened the newly renovated Club Lounge, and most recently, Assistant Chief Concierge.  She has experience managing an international team of 40 associates and overseeing the daily operation of the concierge desk, airport counter and valet service.  In her new role with InterContinental Hong Kong, she oversees the hotel's exclusive Club InterContinental (Executive Lounge).

Tracy Lord, I-Spa Director

Tracy Lord, the hotel's new I-Spa Director, brings to InterContinental Hong Kong, experience working in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.  Most recently, she worked at the Sopwell House Country Club and Spa in St. Albans, U.K., where she spent 14 months as their Country Club and Spa Manager.  Prior to that, Tracy spent a year as Spa Manager at the Amrita Spa, Raffles City in Singapore, acclaimed as the largest luxury spa in Southeast Asia.  In 2003, Tracy was sent on assignment by Raffles to conduct staff and management training to introduce the Amrita spa philosophy at the Amrita Wellness Centre at Le Montreux Palace in Geneva, Switzerland.  She also holds management experience at day spas, destination spas, hotel spas and country retreats around the globe.
