The Owners Association of InterContinental Hotels Group Presents
First Kemmons Wilson Service Award to George Glover, Chairman
and CEO of BayStar Hotel Group, Tampa, Florida

.

ATLANTA (January 3, 2005) The IAHI, The Owners Association of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), has presented its first Kemmons Wilson Service Award to George Glover, Chairman and CEO of BayStar Hotel Group in Tampa, Fla.

Created by the IAHI in honor of Holiday Inn founder Kemmons Wilson, the special service award is given periodically to an IAHI member or IHG executive whose contributions to the Association best exemplify Wilsons commitment to partnership, among franchisees and between franchisee and franchisor. The award is reserved for individuals whose work on behalf of The Association has been long-term and has had significant impact.

This is the highest honor our Association can bestow, and I cant think of anyone more deserving than George, said David Shamoian, IAHI Chairman.  His work as a member of the IAHI leadership body is legendary, going back almost a decade. He led the charge for important new initiatives and new policies that have left our Association better and stronger than when he first joined it.

Glover has been a member of the IAHIs Board of Directors since 1995, chairing numerous key committees and serving as Board Chairman in 2002. He also is active in a number of American Hotel & Lodging Association committees.

He was instrumental in organizing IAHI member support for the development and standardization of the signature, highly successful Holiday Inn Express breakfast bar. He also has been a long-time leader of The Associations and IHGs multi-million-dollar support of Give Kids The World, a non-profit organizationfounded by a Holiday Inn franchiseethat allows children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to visit Central Floridas best-loved attractions.

Glovers association with InterContinental Hotels Group dates back 25 years, when he was a district director for Holiday Inns, Inc. He was with the Kemmons Wilson Companies in Memphis for 17 years, serving as President and Chief Operating Officer for its Wilson Hotel Management Co. division. In 2000 he co-founded BayStar, a hotel development and management company. BayStar currently owns and operates five hotels in the Southeast.

Kemmons understood the power of our working together as a single, united system, and George has continued that legacy, said Leroy Lail, immediate past Chairman of the IAHI. Its fitting that our first Kemmons Wilson Service Award goes to a person who learned at the hand of the masterworking for Kemmons himself for so many years.
