Local Charity Comes Up The Winner In ARAMARK
Harrison Lodging Super Bowl Wager

.

Friendly Competition Yields Three Bountiful Baskets That Will Serve
75 Beneficiaries of South Middlesex Opportunity Council

Wellesley, Ma. February 10, 2005 The Super Bowl just isnt the Super Bowl without a wager between friends, or in this case, between ARAMARK Harrison Lodging conference centers in New England and Philadelphia.  The winners didnt make a dime, but instead donated food baskets to their favorite charitable outlets.
The idea started back in 2004 before the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers won their respective conference titles. ARAMARK Harrison Lodgings Bob Johns heard a radio broadcast about a personal bet between two politicians for an expensive dinner.

I thought a similar wager could be put to better use, said Johns, general manager, Babson Executive Conference Center. Knowing how committed ARAMARK is to the communities it serves, I jumped at the chance to have some fun and help local charities at the same time.  Encouraged by last years success and New Englands repeat at the Super Bowl, I knew I had to put the challenge out again.
When the Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles made the Super Bowl, Johns reached out to John Pitocchelli, general manager of ARAMARK Harrison Lodgings Villanova Conference Center, located just outside of Philadelphia. John was up to the challenge.

The two colleagues agreed that the person from the losing city would provide food baskets for local charities in the winners locale. The number of baskets would be determined by the Super Bowl point spread, with a minimum of three to be distributed.

Thanks to the Patriots 24-21 victory over the Eagles, Villanova Conference Center will fund three ARAMARK food baskets for a charity in the Boston area.

Each basket serves 25 people and contains all the fixings for a turkey dinner, including two turkeys, 10 pounds of potatoes, vegetables and three pies. The donation will be made to the South Middlesex Opportunity Council in Framingham.

Pitocchelli acknowledged that the donation softened the blow of his teams Super Bowl loss. Either way it was a win, said Pitocchelli.  It was a great way to commemorate our teams participation in the Super Bowl and to give something to an ARAMARK community. Im hoping for a rematch next year!  Johns wish is that the New England Patriots will help him keep this tradition alive and create a three-peat for New England charities!
