Bostons Hotel Commonwealth Appoints Daniela B. Guccione
to Assistant General Manager and Kelly A. Brooks
as Director of Sales and Marketing

.

(Boston, MA) October 18, 2004.  Bostons new, independent Hotel Commonwealth announces the promotion of Daniela B. Guccione to Assistant General Manager and the hiring of Kelly A. Brooks as Director of Sales and Marketing.

Daniela Guccione brings more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry.  Ms. Guccione joined the Hotel Commonwealth as Property Operations Director during its pre-opening stages, and in her role as Assistant General Manager she will be responsible for overseeing daily operations including the Front Office, Guest Services, Valet, Housekeeping, Engineering and Security.  Prior to this hotel, Ms. Guccione worked at the Hyatt Cambridge and was responsible for 469 guestrooms in Housekeeping, along with administering the propertys health club.  In addition to this role, she was a service quality management trainer for Hyatt Hotels and educated over 75 managers and staff.

Ms. Guccione was also part of the Hilton Dedham opening team, where her responsibilities included Front Office, Human Resources and Housekeeping.  She was named Manager of the Quarter multiple times and was awarded the special honor of Manager of the Year at the Hyatt Cambridge in 2000.  Ms. Guccione has volunteered for many community projects including after school programs at Cambridge Schools.  She holds a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and speaks three languages.

Kelly Brooks reconnected with the hospitality industry after more than ten years and a breadth of experience in private air transportation and television media sales.  Her roots in hotels began at The Ritz-Carlton Boston in the early 1990s, as one of organizations first travel industry Sales Managers to focus on increasing average rates from travel agents.  She developed and cultivated relationships with clients who booked the highest hotel rates in exchange for special services and amenities.  She was a member of the sales team as the company expanded from five to fifteen hotels in five years.

Ms. Brooks has been trained in Total Quality Management, attended ongoing executive and management training seminars facilitated by Fortune 500 training and consulting firms and, in 1992, she won the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award with Ritz-Carlton.

After leaving Ritz-Carlton, Ms. Brooks, continued her work in luxury travel and became Vice President of Marketing for Flight Time International, a private jet charter company specializing in private travel to worldwide and hard-to-reach hotel destinations including The Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia, and The Four Seasons Hotel in Nevis.  She also created joint sales partnerships with premier hotels/resorts, and established the first air charter preferred supplier partnership with American Express Travel.  Ms. Brooks is a graduate of Boston College.

At Hotel Commonwealth we are committed to providing our guests with a unique luxury experience," said Timothy P. Kirwan, the hotels Managing Director.  "I am confident that with Danielas and Kellys leadership, we will continue to build our business in this newly renovated part of Boston."

The 150-room Hotel Commonwealth is a new, independent, luxury property in the heart of Bostons Kenmore Square, steps away from Fenway Park, Boston University, and world renowned medical institutions.  Opened in May 2003, the Small Luxury Hotels member was named Best New Business Hotel in the World by Forbes.com, and was awarded Four Diamonds by AAA in its first rating.  Great Bay restaurant, the latest innovation by Christopher Myers and Michael Schlow, was named Best Seafood Restaurant by Boston Magazine in 2004.
