Washington Landmark, The Renaissance Mayflower
Hotel, Selects Bartech Automatic Minibars
-
-- Hospitality industrys first automatic minibar installation to implement powerful
combination of TCP/IP and Wireless Communications to support
wide variety of room types and configurations --

BWI CORRIDOR, MD (November 12, 2004) Bartech Systems International, a premier provider of minibar solutions and the leader in automatic minibar technology, today announced that Washington, DCs largest luxury hotel, the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel, has selected Bartech automatic minibars for its 657-room property.  The historic Mayflower first opened in 1925 and is a national landmark and member of Historic Hotels of America.  The hotel is located downtown just minutes from the White House and Smithsonian Museums.

Bartech is providing the Mayflower with minibars for 583 guest rooms and 74 guest suites as part of the hotels $10 million guest room renovation.  The hotel will implement a combination of freestanding automatic minibars and minibars integrated with guest room cabinetry.  Select rooms feature Bartechs eBasket, a standalone unit complementing the minibar for displaying high impulse products such as wine, chocolates, and seasonal items.

The Mayflower selected automatic minibars because of the added control, greater efficiency and profitability, and ultimately improved guest service they offer. The decision to implement Bartech was based on its advanced technology including the ability to leverage two advanced communications technologies within the minibar network -- the hotels existing Ethernet (TCP/IP) communications infrastructure and wireless. Wireless provides the added flexibility to access minibars in guest rooms where the layout was not conducive to connecting to the existing Ethernet network.

The Mayflower features more than 60 different room types and a wide variety of unique room layouts and furniture configurations.  As one of the premier hotels in D.C., our guests expect the convenience and service of an in-room minibar but we needed a flexible solution that could work in every room, said Renaissance Mayflower Hotel General Manager Christian Mari.  Bartech was the only minibar provider with the R&D expertise to support multiple networking technologies.  They use our TCP/IP infrastructure for standard minibar connections and wireless technology in rooms where the minibars lacked ready access to the existing network due to room layout or furniture design.  By introducing wireless, the minibar placement did not restrict the room layout and maintained the design integrity.

The Mayflower is a distinctive hotel, combining the richness of U.S. history with the latest service technology, said Mark Holzberg, President of Bartech The Americas.  It is the first hotel to use multiple communications technologies to communicate with its minibars.  We are proud to be involved in this technologically advanced project, and look forward to working with the innovative staff of The Mayflower.

Bartech automated minibars provide the ability to control and track refreshment revenues and usage.  Charges are posted directly to the property management system (PMS) in real time, making minibar operations efficient and profitable while minimizing guest disputes and lost revenues.  Plus, Bartechs software provides the refill and reporting information to speed replenishment, eliminate expired inventory, reduce energy costs and enhance merchandising for popular high-profit products.
