Carneros Holdings LLC Appoints the PlumpJack Group
As Management Company for The Carneros Inn,
Napa Valley

.

NAPA, Calif. (December 6, 2004) - Carneros Holdings LLC and PlumpJack Group have announced that PlumpJack Group will become the management company for The Carneros Inn, the luxury resort located amid the vineyards in the heart of Napa Valley's beautiful Carneros winegrowing district.

"The vision for The Carneros Inn has always been to provide guests with the highest levels of service and luxury while drawing upon the Inn' s wonderful vineyard-edge location in the spectacular Carneros countryside to deliver an authentic and unique wine country experience,"  said Phil Carville, representative of Carneros Holdings LLC."  Having achieved that goal and shepherded the project through its extremely successful first year, it is now our pleasure to turn operations over to the PlumpJack Group.  With their exemplary record of achievement and proven understanding of hospitality, the wine country experience, and stylish living, we are confident that The Carneros Inn is in highly capable hands."

"The Carneros Inn is one of the most creative, distinctive, beautiful and environmentally sound luxury accommodations ever built in wine country,"  said Rob Goldberg, CEO of the PlumpJack Group.  "It is an honor as well as an enormous milestone of achievement for the PlumpJack Group to be entrusted with the task of maintaining the vision of The Carneros Inn and ensuring the property's ongoing success.  We believe that the expertise we have acquired in the food, wine and hotel industries well positions us not only to uphold the world-class standards that have been established for this beautiful property, but to take The Carneros Inn to exciting new heights as the pre-eminent luxury hotel in the Carneros region."

PlumpJack Group was established by Gavin Newsom, now Mayor of San Francisco, in 1992 when he founded San Francisco's popular PlumpJack wine store with the goal of providing high quality wines at reasonable prices and helpful information in a friendly, non-intimidating manner.  Since then, the portfolio under the PlumpJack Group has grown to include the PlumpJack Cafe with locations in San Francisco and Squaw Valley, Calif.; the PlumpJack Balboa Cafe with locations in San Francisco and Squaw Valley, Calif.; the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn; the PlumpJack Winery in Oakville, Calif.; PlumpJack Wine Stores on Fillmore Street and in Noe Valley in San Francisco; two PlumpJackSport stores; MATRIXFILLMORE; Jack Falstaff, scheduled to open in December 2004 and the PlumpJack Development Fund.

The Carneros Inn is the first full-service resort to be built in Napa in 20 years, and the first ever in the world-renowned Carneros wine region.  The Inn features 96 charming, private guest cottages, each furnished with casual elegance and nestled in a lush garden courtyard with private decks; terrace dining and poolside lounging with spectacular, panoramic vineyard views; architecturally dramatic restaurant, bar and spa facilities; and, most importantly, first-class service delivered with warmth and ease.  The Carneros Inn was named " one of the 25 most romantic getaways in the world"  by Travel + Leisure magazine in February 2004.

Design amenities include classic contemporary furniture, abundant natural light, cherry wood floors and wood-burning fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, large-screen flat-panel TVs, outdoor gas heaters, slate and limestone bathroom detailing, indoor and outdoor showers and, in some cases, soaking tubs.  Additional guest amenities include T-1 speed Internet access over interior and exterior Ethernet ports, DVD/CD player, Italian bed linens, Frette towels, twice daily turndown service, Red Flower bathroom products, breakfast baskets and regular morning newspaper delivery.

The Boon Fly Café, the Carneros Inn's popular roadside eatery and the first all-day dining establishment in the Carneros region, is open to the public as well as Inn guests.  The Boon Fly features simple, tasty, hearty fare made from the freshest ingredients available in and around Napa.  Savory selections include Carneros Baked Onion Soup with Sourdough Crouton and Bubbly Cheese, Oven Baked Housemade Macaroni and Cheese, and Grilled Wild King Salmon with Olive Oil Smashed Potatoes and Charred Tomato Compote.  All baking -- donuts and breakfast bagels, specially created sandwich breads, and delicious dessert pastries -- are done on the premises.

The internationally acclaimed Spa at The Carneros Inn, another unique element of the property, incorporates local ingredients in treatments that are categorized by distinctive wine country themes:  Harvests, Minerals, Cellars, Farms and Creeks.  Examples include a Warm Goat Butter Massage, an Organic Harvest Paprika Facial and a Grape Seed and Guava Body Scrub, all inspired by the natural resources of the Carneros region.

The Carneros is one of the most productive and beautiful agricultural regions in the country, and The Carneros Inn's meticulous attention to detail and respect for the area's agricultural tradition find full expression in the 27-acre resort's landscaping.  Guests can enjoy leisurely walks through hedge-trimmed lanes, lush gardens and stands of fruit trees, representing many of the varieties that were originally harvested by early Carneros farmers.

Other activities at The Carneros Inn include swimming in the infinity-edged outdoor pool, pampering in one of several spa treatment rooms or participating in special Carneros winemaker-hosted tastings.  The Carneros Inn is also an ideal location from which to explore the wineries of Sonoma and Napa valleys, as well as to take advantage of opportunities for birding, scenic hiking, bicycling and canoeing.

The Carneros Inn features superb indoor and outdoor event space for small groups, including a private, tree-lined grove directly overlooking the adjoining vineyards, ideal for weddings or other special events.

Future plans for The Carneros Inn include the re-establishment of a civic space for the Carneros community through the creation of a small town square with post office, bocce courts and an outdoor fireplace around which community gatherings can occur.

The Carneros Inn is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts World Wide.
