The Generation Companies Names Jimmy Davis an
Operating Partner for the Suburban Extended-Stay
Hotel of Jeffersontown/Louisville, Kentucky

September 13, 2004 - The Generation Companies, LLC, (Generation) a Research Triangle Park, North Carolina real estate developer, asset manager and operator of extended stay hotels, welcomes Jimmy Davis, previously General Manager of The Suburban Extended-Stay Hotel of Jeffersontown/Louisville, Kentucky, as its newest Operating Partner.  Pioneered in the hotel industry by Generation in 2000, this innovative program promotes successful hotel General Managers to significant stakeholders, giving them not only more responsibility for and control of their hotel, but also greater financial upside. To qualify, general managers undergo a rigorous application process, contribute a good-faith deposit, and must have proven their hotel management expertise with high scores in the areas of guest service, quality assurance, revenue growth, telephone etiquette, and preventative maintenance.
“My father, H. Mark Daley, Jr, hired Jimmy Davis 18 years ago and he has been a valued team member ever since,” says H. Mark Daley III, Generation president. “With this kind of history I am particularly honored to welcome Mr. Davis as our newest Operating Partner. Jimmy is also the first Operating Partner to operate a Suburban Extended Stay hotel, a brand and product he knows as well as anyone. Generation remains fully committed to attracting and retaining the best hotel operators in the business.”

According to Davis, who worked his way up in the company from dishwasher to

maintenance engineer to general manager, the move from General Manager to Operating Partner combines the best of both jobs. “Both viewpoints are important,” Davis explains.  “The owner sees how money is spent, decides what’s important to focus on, and figures out how to make the property better so it can be more profitable.  The general manager is in charge of making sure things run smoothly. This combination of responsibility means more experience and more opportunity for growth. It’s a great way to learn, grow and change.” What’s the key to his success?  According to Davis, it’s sales. “From housekeepers to maintenance to the front desk–we’re all sales people,” he concludes. “Sales means many things–it means doing a good job, keeping the property clean, being friendly, talking with guests, making sure guests and the rest of the team get what they need. That’s what makes a property successful.”

The Suburban Extended-Stay Hotel of Jeffersontown/Louisville is an economy-priced, 144-room hotel located in Louisville, Kentucky.
