Dating back to its construction in 1928 the hotel has always enjoyed an enviable reputation as one of San Francisco's hotel gems. Formerly the Ramada Inn Union Square, the hotel had been known to locals and travelers alike as the Hotel Mark Twain since 1933. The hotel, due to its location and attentive service, has always been popular for both business and leisure travelers. One of the several celebrities that have made the hotel famous is jazz legend Billie Holiday who was known to frequent the hotel often in the 1940's. The hotel still keeps its tribute to Ms. Holiday alive by frequently playing her memorable music in the lobby and hallways.
