The 130-room Mallory Hotel in Downtown Portland
Being Acquired by the Aspen Hotel Group


PORTLAND, Oregon (July 26, 2004) – Howard Jacobs, COO of Aspen Hotel Group, LLC., announced today that an Aspen affiliate had reached agreement to acquire the 130-room Mallory Hotel and Garage in downtown Portland. The seller is Malco Hotel, Inc., a company owned by the Albert Gentner family.  The transaction is scheduled to close in early August.

“We are thrilled to add the Mallory to our portfolio of hotels, “Jacobs said.  “This property has been a Portland tradition for over 80 years and we intend to continue to operate the Mallory as one of the most unique and charming hotels in the western U.S.”

The Mallory Dining Room will continue to offer its famous, fabulous breakfasts and along with elegant lunches and dinners.

The Driftwood Room, the Mallory’s renowned watering hole, brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. Artists, intellectuals, businesspeople and tourists will continue to enjoy this genuine 1950s era hangout.

Aspen Hotel Group, one of the Aspen Companies is based in Seattle and Portland.  Its affiliate companies own and/or operate 11 hotels in three states including the Hotel Lucia in Portland and the Alexis Hotel in Seattle.
