SPRINGFIELD, Mo. and ROGERS, Ark., July 21, 2004 - Mr.  John Q. Hammons today announced plans to develop a $30 million, 230-room Marriott Hotel and a $25 million, 125,000-square-foot John Q. Hammons Center in the booming Pinnacle Hills area of Rogers, Ark.  Representing the first full-service Marriott Hotel in Arkansas, the new property will be linked to Hammons' already established $45 million, 250-suite Embassy Suites Hotel by the John Q. Situated only 20 minutes from the rapidly growing Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport and located near I-49, U.S. 71 and I-540, construction of the Marriott Hotel and John Q. Hammons Center is slated to begin in first quarter 2005, followed by a grand opening in third quarter 2006.  The Marriott Hotel and the John Q. "The already successful Embassy Suites Hotel - Northwest Arkansas coupled with the new Marriott Hotel and John Q. Hammons Center represent strong components of establishing Pinnacle Hills as one of the most prestigious areas of Northwest Arkansas," said Steve Womack, mayor of Rogers.  "The explosive growth Rogers is experiencing requires quality lodging and meetings options to ensure repeat business that benefits the city.  Mr. Hammons' developments consistently deliver unprecedented results and will have a positive impact not only on our visitors, but also our residents and businesses."

In addition to the developments in Pinnacle Hills, other projects are underway in Rogers, including the Mercy Medical Level 1 Trauma Center, new Perry Road Interchange, $25 million worship center, as well as The Shops at Market Street, an upscale retail and office center.

"Rogers is one of Northwest Arkansas' fastest growing cities, making it an economically sound market for building exceptional hospitality facilities," said Mr. Hammons.  "We're confident that by opening the first full-service Marriott Hotel in the state, coupled with the John Q. Hammons Center, we will fill a big need for this thriving city and provide easy and convenient access to all local attractions, business districts, the University of Arkansas, as well as the airport."

Hammons' plans to develop a new Marriott Hotel and the John Q. Hammons Center have received tremendous support from community leaders such as Mayor Steve Womack; partners of The Pinnacle Group, including J.B. Hunt, Bill Schwyhart, Tim Graham and Robert Thornton; as well as other key business headquarters, including Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Tyson Foods, Inc.  With a population of more than 41,500, the Rogers community includes a diverse mix of businesses, recreation and historical attractions, as well as entertainment districts.
