SAN DIEGO - August 2, 2004 - Stanford Hotels Corporation announced
today that its downtown San Diego property has officially been named the
San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter. The hotel is in the midst of a $40
million reconstruction and will operate as a Marriott franchise.

Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, the 306-room Marriott Gaslamp Quarter will
open in an area that is experiencing tremendous growth in the hospitality,
residential and commercial sectors and within short walking distance of
the San Diego Convention Center.
Guest rooms are handsomely appointed and feature down-filled duvet and pillows. Other in-room amenities include two-line telephones with data ports and voice mail, high-speed and wireless Internet access, 27-inch flat screen TV, plush down comforters and custom duvet covers, butter soft 250-thread count single pick bed linens, pillow top mattresses, spa-like 17-pound terry towels, and Gilchrist & Soames spa bath amenities.
