 The 663-room OHANA Waikiki West
Receives $5 million Renovation

.

HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII - August 23, 2004 - OHANA Hotels & Resorts has completed a $5 million upgrade to the 663-room OHANA Waikiki West, located across the street from the Kuhio Avenue entrance to the International Marketplace, just two blocks from Waikiki Beach.

This moderately priced hotel, located at 2330 Kuhio Avenue, now features corridors and guest rooms with fresh, new looks. Green and aqua tones highlight the corridor carpeting with taro, banana and monstera leaves interwoven throughout the design. Pale green walls and coverlets of tropical foliage in soft tones create a relaxing atmosphere in each guest room. All furniture has been refinished. Countertops in all kitchenettes, which include a sink, mini refrigerator and microwave oven, have been re-laminated. Bamboo framed mirrors and lively palm patterned wall covering enhance each

Island art decorate the walls in hall corridors and guest rooms. According to Pat Moore, corporate designer for Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, "It has always been important for Outrigger and OHANA Hotels to promote our local artists, and we are thrilled to showcase the art of Peggy Chun in all rooms at the OHANA Waikiki West."
Prints of four different paintings by Chun are being featured throughout the hotel's guest rooms. They include a nostalgic watercolor of a tin roofed cottage nestled in lush foliage, and a beach scene with Hawaii's unique mountains as a backdrop. The other two paintings were inspired by Hawaii's beautiful music. The first shows a ukulele resting against a tea plant draped with floral leis, and the other is a painting of Hawaiian musical instruments with sheet music of Hawaii's beloved Beamer Brothers. In all, twelve hundred individual Peggy Chun prints now hang in the OHANA Waikiki West.

"The OHANA Waikiki West has always been a popular hotel because of its friendly service, family-style accommodations and value-oriented rates," said hotel manager Pam Yagi. "With the completion of this renovation, the hotel has become an even better choice of accommodations when visiting Waikiki."

OHANA Hotels & Resorts is division of Outrigger Enterprises, Inc., the largest locally owned lodging company in Hawaii and one of the fastest growing lodging companies in the Pacific. OHANA Hotels & Resorts operates 12 properties in Hawaii and two in Guam for a total of 14 economically priced rooms for travelers who appreciate value.
