Parisian Landmark La Trémoille Named Preferred Hotels®
& Resorts "Hotel of the Year" for 2004

CHICAGO - August 9, 2004 - Preferred Hotels® & Resorts Worldwide awarded the world-famous Parisian landmark, La Trémoille as Hotel of the Year for 2004.  The prestigious award recognizes marketing excellence among independent hotels and is based on their creative execution, support of the Preferred brand image and involvement in sales and marketing promotions through out the year.

La Trémoille, adored by guests who have included Orson Welles and Richard Gere, is situated in the heart of the Paris’ buzzing ‘Golden Triangle’ in the 8th arrondissement.  Famous for its classical listed Haussmannian-style façade, this independent luxury hotel reopened its doors in June 2002 following extensive renovation and restyling.  It has rapidly recaptured corporate and leisure guests with its chic and stylish look and feel.

During its 18-month closure, the hotel managed to successfully retain its entire staff, many of whom have worked at La Trémoille for years.

Highly respected for his work on the Four Seasons George V and Pershing Hall in Paris, the hotel’s interior was transformed by Richard Martinet.  All 93 bedrooms and suites now exemplify contemporary styling and are finished to the highest and most luxurious standards.  Approximately 30 different color schemes are employed throughout the property, complementing the building’s original and elegant architecture.

The hotel also comprises the chic Sir Terence Conran-designed restaurant, Senso.  Especially popular with workers of the local media district and nearby residents, the restaurant boasts light and elegant fare -- fine French cuisine with a Mediterranean influence. The restaurant regularly features live jazz acts inspired perhaps by Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong, who were visitors in 1961.

Rob Cornell, managing director of Preferred Hotels® & Resorts says, “La Trémoille’s design, impeccable standards of service and fantastic business performance since reopening are hugely impressive.  The hotel is a perfect example of a successful and distinctive independent hotel.  The management team deserves enormous credit for their vision and the hard work they have put in to create a truly memorable experience for all guests.”

Pascal Dupuis, general manager of La Trémoille, reflected, “La Trémoille was already famous, but in commissioning the best designers and retaining our fantastic staff, we have bolstered the hotel’s iconic status.  We’re delighted with this award which rewards our efforts and will serve to further build the property’s reputation.”
