Dog Friendly Directory is Running with the Big Dogs
.
Knoxville, TN August 11, 2004 In response to an ever-increasing trend in pet-friendly travel, the travel industry has moved towards not only accepting pets, but catering to them. However, one rather large group has been left out the big dogs. Recently launched, Dog Friendly Directory (www.DogFriendlyDirectory.com) is helping frustrated big-dog owners find quality lodging that will be happy to make room for their dogs of stature.

Although certainly not a petite dog, Buddy travels well and loves to get out of the house and on the road, states Buddys owner, Patrick Kinsell. Hes a 7-year old Bouvier and sleeps all day; hes better trained than our kids! Unfortunately, even when we find a pet-friendly hotel, they usually only accept small dogs.

Although they may not be perfectly suited to meandering through a china shop, most big dogs are calm, well-mannered pets that treat their travel destinations like a second home.

Weve been accepting large dogs for years and weve never had any problems with any of our four-legged guests, states Judi Schenck, owner of the Jewel of the Smokies cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Most of our guests have had a difficult time finding a vacation destination that will accept large dogs, and they are grateful to have finally found us.

With each listing on Dog Friendly Directory.com there are clear icons denoting whether or not the property will accept dogs over forty pounds. A big-dog area of the Web site that will cater to the needs and concerns of this not-so-small group is currently in the works and will be launched shortly.
