Sydney Joung to Lead Sales and Marketing
Efforts for the Amalfi Hotel Chicago

CHICAGO, IL – April 30, 2004 – Paul Drummond, general manager for the Amalfi Hotel Chicago, announced today that Sydney Joung, 32, has joined the management team as director of business development and image.  The 215-room property, located at 20 W. Kinzie, is the flagship hotel for a new concept that marked its “soft” opening in February.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to build a new brand in a vibrant city, where the stylish boutique hotel concept has not overly saturated the marketplace,” said Joung.  “We’re confident that the design, genuine service, and value-added amenities including a complimentary breakfast and cocktail reception, will inspire our guests to return time and again,” she added.

Joung will manage all sales and marketing, oversee catering, and manage daily communication with the on-site reservations and revenue management team.  She recently served as a sales

and marketing contractor for the Kimpton Boutique Hotels in Washington, D.C., and as director of sales and marketing for The Jefferson, a Loews Hotel, in D.C.

“We are extremely pleased to have Sydney join our team.  Not only does she bring a proven track record in sales and marketing, but also great enthusiasm and energy which will build strong bonds and relationships within the business and social communities.  These strengths will assist in bringing the Amalfi Hotel to the forefront of Chicago’s hotel choices,” said Drummond.

Joung points out that the hotel’s service levels are uniquely enhanced because the company’s leaders matched their hires’ personality to a position rather than relying solely on pairing past industry experience with a job.  “The managing team knew that sincerity and friendliness could not be taught, and that mentoring could build strong technical skills.  The difference in the level of service and commitment our staff offers each guest will set us apart from other luxury hotels,” she said.

The Amalfi Hotel Chicago offers stylish luxury in a uniquely residential atmosphere that both leisure and business travelers seek.   Conveniently located in River North, just steps from the Magnificent Mile and other city attractions, the hotel’s unique interior design is inspired by the rich colors and beauty found along Italy’s famed Amalfi coastline.  Guest room amenities help create an urban oasis with luxury pillow top king and queen beds encased in 315 thread count Egyptian cotton linens, fully stocked honor bar, in-room DVD/CD players, complimentary high-speed internet service and spacious work stations, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity in all public spaces, Aveda bath products, plush bathrobes, and multi-head showers. The 24-hour in-room dining offers true Chicago flavor provided by Harry Caray’s acclaimed restaurant.
