Nasser Samman, GM of The Garden City Hotel Named
�2004 General Manager of the Year� by the
HSMAI Big Apple Chapter

GARDEN CITY, Long Island, NY (June 9, 2004) - The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Big Apple Chapter selected Nasser Samman, general manager of The Garden City Hotel as the �2004 General Manager of the Year�. This prestigious award is only given to one general manager in the New York area, and was presented to Samman during the HSMAI Big Apple Chapter�s annual Frank Berkman Dinner in New York City.
 
"We feel delighted that Nasser has been bestowed what is known as the most prominent award in hospitality," said Cathy Nelkin Miller, president of The Garden City Hotel. service and distinctive accommodations. The Garden City Hotel, located on Long Island, NY is also the recent recipient of the 2004 Paragon Award, given by Corporate Meetings & Incentives magazine, to top hotels in the country for corporate meetings, as voted by their readers.

"Primarily, I would like to thank my exceptional staff, whose dedication and enthusiasm have made my position as general manager a true pleasure," said Samman during his acceptance speech at the awards dinner. Samman also expressed his appreciation and admiration towards Cathy Nelkin Miller, the president of The Garden City Hotel, and Patrick Smalley, the hotel's executive vice president, for their trust in him to lead the hotel and for their guidance and support through the years.

Samman�s responsibilities at The Garden City Hotel include operating policy, maintaining inter-departmental relations, financial reports and identifying potential liabilities. In addition, he oversees daily operations of all departments of the hotel, including sales, guest services, human resources, housekeeping, property maintenance, accounting and food and beverage. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Long Island Hotel & Lodging Association (LIH&LA).

"As a General Manager I strongly support all my staff taking advantage of the educational opportunities provided by HSMAI and I too have learned a lot through my participation and intend to stay involved as time permits," said Samman. "That said, I would like to thank HSMAI not only for presenting me with this award, but also for helping me achieve it," Samman added.
