 Carlson Hotels Worldwide Recognizes Best in the Brands
Sean Shannon, GM of the Radisson on John Deere Commons,
Moline, Illinois Named Best Radisson General Manager 


MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (June 16, 2004) ---- Carlson Hotels Worldwide honored its best performing hotels at its annual business conference held recently in Aruba.  Following are highlights of the top award winners for Radisson Hotels & Resorts; Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts; Country Inns & Suites By Carlson; and Park Inn.


Radisson Hotels & Resorts presented its Esprit Award, for best general manager, to Sean Shannon, general manager of the Radisson on John Deere Commons Moline, Ill. Shannon was selected from more than 250 Radisson general managers in the Americas.  The Esprit Award is based on a review of the hotel's business performance, guest satisfaction and quality rankings in addition to participation in community relations and involvement in brand leadership. 

The Pinnacle Award, recognizing the top

Radisson President's award-winning hotel in the Americas, was presented to the Radisson Plaza Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.  Led by General Manager Marla Preston, the Pinnacle hotel epitomizes the Radisson brand identity and showcases an exceptional product, service and culture. 


Catalina Lopez Velazquez, front desk supervisor at the Park Plaza Las Vegas Lady Luck Casino Hotel in Nevada, has been selected as the brand's 2003 Employee of the Year.  Velazquez was chosen from more than 2,000 Park Plaza employees throughout North America for this honor.  To be considered for this award, nominees must display consistent, outstanding performance; a commitment to quality and excellence in their responsibilities; and an ability to create meaningful and positive experiences for Park Plaza guests and other employees.


Country Inns & Suites By Carlson presented its 2003 Presidential Award to the Country Inn & Suites in Lake City, Fla.  Nick Patel, owner, accepted the award which is presented to the property that has displayed outstanding sales and marketing efforts, distinguished itself with a high level of commitment to guest service, supported the Country Inns & Suites brand and has had exceptional financial success.

Mike De Prez, general manager of the Country Inn & Suites in Chattanooga, Tenn. at Hamilton Place Mall, was honored as Country Inns & Suites By Carlson's 2003 General Manager of the Year.  The award is presented to the general manager who has provided the highest standards of leadership, particularly in the areas of sales and profit achievement, guest service and human resource development. 


Larry Wozniak of the Park Inn in Stevensville, Mich., was awarded the General Manager of the Year for Park Inn hotels.  Wozniak was selected for his leadership excellence, which creates an engaging work environment that attracts and retains employees that are empowered to help the hotel achieve success.  Wozniak has served as the property's general manager for the past 14 years, maintaining superior performance at his hotel with little staff turnover.
