American Skiing Company Names Brandon McCarter
Eastern Lodging Vice President

PARK CITY, Utah, June 3, 2004 - American Skiing Company announced today the appointment of Brandon McCarter to the newly created position of Vice President -- Eastern Lodging.  Most recently, Mr. McCarter was Vice President of Lodging and General Manager of the Grand Summit Resort Hotel at Mount Snow, Vermont.
    
"Brandon brings a wealth of lodging and hospitality experience to our management team," said ASC President and CEO B.J. Fair.  "He has done an outstanding job at Mount Snow.  I'm confident that under his leadership, we will raise the bar at our eastern lodging properties and provide even better service and improved operations for our guests."
   
In his new role Mr. McCarter will work with the hotel management and sales teams at each resort and oversee all lodging operations at the Company's five eastern resorts.  ASC's eastern lodging properties include Grand Summit Resort Hotels at each of Mount Snow, Killington, Attitash and Sugarloaf, two Grand Summit Resort Hotels at Sunday River, condominium complexes at each resort, the Snow Cap Inn at Sunday River, and the Snow Lake Lodge at Mount Snow.
    
Mr. McCarter has more than 25 years experience in the lodging and hospitality industry.  Prior to joining Mount Snow, he was the VP and General Manager for Resort Properties in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, responsible for planning, marketing and managing a resort and convention center, private homes, cabins, chalets and new condominium construction.  He also served as the General Manager for various Sonesta Hotel and Resort properties in New Orleans, Egypt and Florida.  In 2000, he was awarded Sonesta International Hotels and Resorts Marketing's General Manager of the Year.
    
Mr. McCarter will be based at Mount Snow Resort and will assume his new duties effective June 9, 2004.
