Pechanga Resort & Casino, Just Two Years Old,
Building a $158 million Expansion
.
TEMECULA, Calif. - April 16, 2004 -- Pechanga Development Corporation awarded Perini Building Company a $158 million construction contract to expand Pechanga Resort & Casino. The expansion includes construction of an underground parking garage, food court, fine dining, administrative offices and increased gaming space. Perini Building Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Perini Corporation (NYSE:PCR).

The 413,000 square foot expansion is taking place just two years after Pechanga Resort & Casino opened it doors. Perini built the original resort casino in 2002. Since that time, Pechanga Resort & Casino has been awarded the Four Diamond Award by the American Automobile Association two years in a row and is currently anticipating a third. It was the first resort and casino property in California to receive the prestigious title.

"The popularity of Pechanga Resort & Casino has been overwhelming," said Pechanga Development Corporation President John Palinkas. "Pechanga set out from the very beginning to develop an upscale resort casino that blends class and elegance with the Las Vegas gaming experience. That's what Perini delivered," he added.

To accommodate the influx of visitors, Perini is building the project in phases. According to Perini Project Manager Duane Barringer, "At no time will we close down the

existing casino during construction." Perini will complete the expansion by the end of 2004.

The expansion project at Pechanga Resort & Casino has also helped to fuel the local economy by employing more than 475 construction workers during the outset of the project. That number is expected to increase to approximately 700 people as construction moves to the interior details. Fifty subcontractors have been employed throughout the length of the project. These subcontractors and construction workers are all primarily from the Southern California region. When the expansion is complete, Pechanga Resort & Casino looks to add approximately 1,100 new jobs within the resort in all areas, from food and beverage to casino games to administrative positions.

Most of the design consultants that were involved with the original facility are working on the expansion, including the architectural firm Delawie, Wilkes, Rodrigues, Barker.

According to Andrew Rodrigues, president of the Delawie, Wilkes, Rodrigues, Barker, "The expansion blends with the existing facility. We are maintaining the use of warm colors, stone and wood. Pechanga's design includes all of the amenities of a Las Vegas casino, with the elegance of a luxury resort."

The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians owns and operates Pechanga Resort & Casino. The property is located on the Temecula Reservation between San Diego and Los Angeles.

"The quality of Pechanga has set a new precedent in Native American Gaming. The fact that we are expanding the project just 24 months after it opened is indicative of its success. Perini is very grateful to the tribe for continuing with our firm as the general contractor. Pechanga was our first Native American contract in California and has opened up numerous opportunities for us here in this niche market," said Dick Rizzo, chairman of Perini Building Company.

Perini Building Company is recognized as a leading builder of hotels and casinos in the country. Perini also leads the country building Native American hospitality projects. Perini has six offices throughout the United States and one in Mexico.
