AH&LA's 2004 U.S. Lodging Industry Summit

.

Washington, April 9, 2004 Peter Krause, managing director and founding director of Greenhill & Company, LLC, was recently selected to moderate the American Hotel & Lodging Associations (AH&LA) 2004 U.S. Lodging Industry Summit, 9 a.m. 1 p.m., May 11, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.  One of the top lodging industry financial luminaries, Krause will arbitrate the associations first forecast event as leading business analysts offer their collective perspectives on the U.S. travel and hotel industries.

A former U.S. Army National Guard officer, Krause has spent over 30 years on Wall Street working on over 200 sale, financing, and merger and acquisition transactions in the real estate, hotel, leisure,  and general corporate fields.  He is also the chairman and co-founder of Greenhills real estate principal investment vehicle, The Barrow Street Real Estate Funds.  As the companys former chief operating officer, he closed a variety of transactions with a total value in billions of dollars.  Prior to his current responsibilities, Krause served as managing director of Morgan Stanleys lodging practice as well as practiced law at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, Schulte, Roth & Zabel, and Faherty & Faherty, Inc., concentrating on real estate, securities, and corporate finance.  He holds a Juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.

In commemoration of the 21st Annual National Tourism Week (May 816), AH&LA is holding this one-day national conference to analyze current industry performance and give insight on future developments.  It also marks the first time industry experts will gather to discuss trends.

I am honored to have been invited to serve as moderator of this exclusive AH&LA event.  We have assembled a panel of industry analysts whose expertise is unmatched.  This promises to be an engaging, informative, and lively discussion of the major issues facing the hotel industry today.  Anyone interested in the lodging industry should join us, said Krause.

Participating panelists include:

  • Consumer Behavior  D.K. Shifflet, president and CEO, D.K. Shifflet and Associates;
  • Consumer Trends  Peter Yesawich, managing partner, Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell;
  • E-commerce Performance  Philip Wolf, president and CEO, PhoCusWright Inc.;
  • Economic Overview  Bjorn Hanson, group industry leader, hospitality and leisure practice, PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd.;
  • Operating Performance Mark Lomanno, president, Smith Travel Research; and
  • Supply Side Pat Ford, president, Lodging Econometrics.
We are pleased to have Peter join us for this vital industry event.  As we have gathered the key research leaders, his presence completes our efforts to assemble a highly probable forecast of the hotel industry.  The data relayed at the summit will provide everyone from industry insiders to consumers with reliable information to make appropriate business decisions, said AH&LA President and CEO Joseph A. McInerney, CHA.

Unlike AH&LAs annual Americas Lodging Investment Summit in Los Angeles designed to address the unique needs of the hospitality-investment community as well as provide networking opportunities this symposium provides key sector information to help hoteliers plan strategies as well as assist consumers to make cost-saving travel decisions for the year.  The presenters are recognized leaders in their disciplines and will provide a wealth of cutting-edge data unavailable anywhere else.

Early registration for the 2004 U.S. Lodging Industry Summit is encouraged due to limited space.  Registration is $25 for AH&LA members and $50 for nonmembers and is available via the associations Web site at http://www.ahla.com/conventions_lodging_industry_summit.asp.  For additional information, contact AH&LAs conventions and events department at (202) 289-3171 or [email protected]
