Day Hospitality Group Earns 25 Top Honors for Accomplishments with Marriott Branded Hotels
ATLANTA (April 20, 2004) - Day Hospitality Group (DHG), a boutique-size management company based in Atlanta, collected a behemoth-size percentage of the major awards handed out at the annual Marriott GM Conferences recently.  DHG earned 17 top honors for accomplishments in the SpringHill and Fairfield Inn brands and eight top awards for the TownePlace Suites brand.  The companys Hampton Inn-Mall of GA earned a top recognition from Hilton International.

Ranked number 84 on Hotel Business magazines list of 100 Top Management Companies, Day Hospitality Group holds 14 select service hotels in its portfolio.  Founded in 1994 by industry veterans Peyton Day and Fred Cerrone, the company maintains a focus on training, goal-setting and teamwork to achieve excellence. DHG demonstrates success with repeat business, increased market share and one of the best employee retention rates in the business.

To earn the recent awards, DHG hotels posted consistently high guest and associate satisfaction scores.   Marriott recognized DHG with a Magic Management Company Award (one of only five given) and named it the outstanding management company in the Southeast Region.  DHG continues to accept management opportunities.

Three Brands Earn Awards

Marriott named DHGs SpringHill Suites-Mall of GA hotel the sole winner of the Chairmans Award for posting 2003s highest guest tracking scores in the brand. The company named Matt Crall a Top General Manager of 2003, one of only ten SHS managers so honored. His hotel earned a Platinum Circle Award, one of only two in the brand, for maintaining guest tracking scores above 93% throughout the year.   All told, SHS-Mall of GA collected 12 awards.

For the Fairfield Inn brand, Marriott tapped Richard Welch, GM of the Fairfield Inn-Charlotte I-77 North, for one of the prestigious Magic General Manager Awards.  His hotel earned a Platinum Circle Award for maintaining a 93% guest tracking score for 2003.  It was one of only eight among more than 525 Fairfield Inns.

At the TownePlace Suites brand conference, Marriott named Warren Schatzle a GM of the Year and awarded the TownePlace Suites-Alpharetta the Hotel of the Year honor.  Donna McHugh serves as the GM.

DHG also earned six additional major awards.  TPS-Alpharetta earned Platinum Hotel, SE Region, Most Improved Rev Par, SE Region, and Platinum Hotel for the brand.  TPS-Kennesaw earned Gold Hotel, SE Region, Highest Guest Satisfaction Score, SE Region, and Gold Hotel for the brand.

I am very proud of our managers leadership and of the daily dedication and hard work invested by all of our associates, said Fred Cerrone, president of DHG.  They richly deserve recognition and honor.

Warren Schatzle and Donna McHugh have served TPS longer than any other managers with the brand.  Opened in the fall of 1997, TPS-A is the second oldest TPS hotel.

GM of the Year

From among 115 TownePlace Suites general managers nationwide, Warren Schatzle, GM of the TPS-Kennesaw, won the General Manager of the Year.  The award recognizes the total team effort that goes into everything we do at our hotel, said Schatzle.

Warren focuses on the delivery of world-class service and he celebrates victories with his team, said Cerrone.  Last year he personally booked over $100,000 in business to his hotel.

Hotel of the Year

Marriott named the TownePlace Suites-Alpharetta the Hotel of the Year for the brand.  For the past three years, Donna McHugh has served as general manager of the hotel assisted by Rob Nolen as Operations Manager. One of two Platinum Level hotels for the brand, it achieved high scores in customer satisfaction, high percentage of occupancy, daily rate and profit, and top scores in an employee opinion survey.
