Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts Developing the
750 room Shangri-La Pazhou, Guangzhou
.
Hong Kong, February 27, 2004 -- Asia's leading luxury hotel group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, will open a hotel in Guangzhou, capital of China's southern Guangdong Province in the Pearl River Delta area, in early 2007.

The first Shangri-La property in Guangzhou city, the Shangri-La Pazhou, Guangzhou is situated in the city's Hai Zhu District, adjacent to the new Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre, one of the largest convention centers in the world.  Conveniently located, the hotel is merely 15 minutes from the city's downtown area and 30 minutes from the new Hua Du International Airport.

The Shangri-La Pazhou, Guangzhou will overlook the renowned Pearl River, with most of its guest rooms enjoying spectacular views of the river.  The hotel will feature 750 luxurious guest rooms designed in a contemporary yet classical style, with a minimum room size of 475 square feet.  Each guest room will have a spacious work area to meet the needs of modern business travelers.  All rooms will offer a range of Shangri-La amenities and services, such as same day laundry and valet service, satellite TV, data ports and broadband Internet service.  The three Horizon Club floors will provide an exclusive retreat for discerning corporate travelers, with special amenities and privileges such as daily complimentary breakfast and cocktails in the Horizon Club lounge, express check-in and check-out service, personal butler service and more.

The hotel will offer a variety of dining and entertainment choices, including a lobby lounge, a coffee shop, a Cantonese restaurant with 30 private dining rooms, an entertainment center, as well as two innovative specialty restaurants.

Recreational facilities will include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a health club and spa of 21,530 square feet.  The meeting and banqueting rooms will be the largest hotel facilities in the city with a 25,300-square-foot pillar-less grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 2,000 guests, and a 10,765-square-foot junior ballroom that can host up to 830 guests for banquets or conferences.  Another 18 function rooms of various sizes will also be available with a total space of 38,755 square feet, all supported by state-of-the-art equipment.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently manages 42 hotels in Australia, the Chinese mainland, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, with a rooms inventory of over 21,000.  It has over 20 projects under development in Australia, the Chinese mainland, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Qatar, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
