Onitys SensorStat® 2000x Geared to Help
All Segments Save on Energy Costs
Now, budget as well as luxury hotels can reduce energy usage as much as 30 percent with adaptable new electronic solution

ATLANTA JAN. 18, 2004 Onity / Senercomm® is introducing yet another electronic solution to help hoteliers reduce guestroom energy wasteand thus reduce operating costswhile at the same time enhancing guestroom comfort levels.

According to Pascal Metivier, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for Onity, the new SensorStat® 2000x product release will allow even small and mid-size hotel properties and those with older PTAC (packaged terminal air conditioners) the opportunity to install a state-of-the-art, technically advanced energy-management solution in their guestrooms.

What is unique about the SensorStat® 2000x is that it can be adapted to older PTAC units, Metivier said. Before the advent of this new technology, the old PTAC units could not interface with modern energy-management systems. The SensorStat® 2000x eliminates that problem.

The SensorStat® 2000x energy-management unit is designed to reduce energy waste in hotel guestrooms by automatically setting HVAC temperatures to an energy-saving levelor setbackwhen a guest leaves his or her room. Even more unique is a feature that enables the SensorStat® 2000x to automatically set guestroom temperature to an even more energy- and cost-saving level in guestrooms that are unoccupied for an extended period of time.

We're extremely excited about the release of the new SensorStat® 2000x, he said. Part of what sets this new product apart from other solutions is that its affordability and rapid return-on-investment will enable even small budget hotels to reap the benefits of a top-quality, state-of-the-art energy management solutionan advantage formerly available mostly to higher-end properties with higher cash flow.

This is very good news for the hotel industry. Especially now, when business is down due to the stale economy, and energy prices continue to climb higher and higher, hotels must be vigilant about the high cost of energy and do everything they can to save on those costs.

Metivier added, This is true for all hotels, of course, but especially for those in the budget and economy segments, where cost-cutting measures are limited and cash-flow problems are magnified. The SensorStat® 2000x can now help operators of any size property reduce guestroom energy use by as much as 30 percentand that adds up to significant savings.

Greg Plank, President of Worldwide Travel Marketing, an Atlanta-based technology and operations consulting firm, said that what effective energy-management systems save in energy costs can pay for those systems in as little as 18 to 24 months. He said this is a key factor in making the new SensorStat® 2000x an attractive investment for all hotel operatorsand, given the new products affordability, a truly viable investment for budget- and economy-hotel operators. Furthermore, Plank said, its apparent that a top-notch energy-management system is becoming more a necessity than an option.

My take on the energy picture for hotels is that its almost essential to have an effective guestroom energy-management system installed, Plank said. Not only do energy prices continue to rise, but environmental regulations are becoming more stringentand I dont see these trends being reversed any time soon.

The SensorStat® 2000x is easy to install and very user-friendly.  Once installed, it electronically senses when a guest has left his or her room, then automatically sets the room temperature to a pre-set, energy-saving level until the guest returnsat which point, the SensorStat® 2000x returns the guestroom climate to its previous comfort level. If the guestroom remains unoccupied for more than 15 hours, the SensorStat® 2000x automatically sets the temperature to an even deeper, more cost-saving level until the room is again occupied. This feature minimizes energy costs in guestrooms that go unsold for any length of time.

The SensorStat® product series has been the long-standing core of our energy management product offering, with a record of proven reliability and performance, Metivier added. We are confident the new SensorStat® 2000x will only enhance the entire product lines reputation. Its highly competitive price makes the SensorStat® 2000x a sure bet for a quick return on investment and a new best buy for hoteliers looking for an economical solution to energy management.
