Bishop’s Lodge Resort Opens the SháNah Spa
and Wellness Center
SANTA FE, N.M. – December 2003 – Bishop’s Lodge Resort and SháNah Spa recently received Condé Nast Johansens’ top award, naming the SháNah Spa and Wellness Center the most outstanding spa in North America.  The Condé Nast Johansens Recommended Hotel Guides are the most comprehensive illustrated reference to independently owned, annually inspected hotels throughout North America, Great Britain and Europe.

“Bishop’s Lodge offers a newly opened spa with an extensive range of facilities in an oasis of extraordinary peace and tranquility,“ said Lesley O’Malley-Keyes, Condé Nast Johansens’ vice president and publishing director.

The SháNah Spa and Wellness Center recently celebrated its first anniversary, having opened in summer 2002.  The intimate facility houses six treatment rooms, outdoor Watsu pool and a broad menu of spa services and wellness programs.  Staying true to local Native American culture and traditions, the SháNah Spa offers an eclectic menu of healing and revitalizing treatments.  A Sweat Lodge will debut in spring 2004.  The spa’s outdoor patio features dramatic sculptures by the late Native American artist Allan Houser.

Nestled in the foothills of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains on more than 400 acres of land, Bishop’s Lodge was founded by the first Bishop of Sante Fe in 1851.  The historic resort attracts visitors year after year with expansive, natural surroundings, panoramic views and a wide variety of outdoor activities.  Minutes from downtown Santa Fe, travelers enjoy convenience with serenity and security in this Southwestern mountain resort.

Bishop’s Lodge features 111 distinctive guest accommodations set in 15 separate “lodges.”  Guestrooms have their own character ranging from New Mexican, Santa Fe and Spanish Colonial style.  Many of the rooms connect and are suited for families.   The resort recently completed their new presidential suite, a 2,000 square foot suite with two bedrooms, living room and state-of-the-art small meeting capabilities.

Bishop’s Lodge is managed by Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the nation’s largest independent hotel management company.

Interstate Hotels & Resorts operates more than 300 hospitality properties with nearly 67,000 rooms in 42 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and Russia.
