.

ARLINGTON, Va., January 26, 2004 Interstate Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: IHR), today announced the promotion of Alex Lombardo to vice president, finance and the promotion of George Brennan to senior vice president, sales and marketing, from senior vice president of marketing.

Alex Lombardo will be responsible for all corporate treasury and capital markets activities and will report to the companys chief financial officer.  Previously, he served in a dual role as assistant treasurer for Interstate and its sister company, MeriStar Hospitality Corporation.

With 14 years of experience in accounting and finance, Alex has the financial skillset and level of expertise that ideally qualify him for this position, said Steve Jorns, Interstates chief executive officer.  He already has a proven record of success at Interstate and MeriStar, where, as assistant treasurer, he successfully managed treasury functions for 300 hotels and arranged $1.5 billion in debt financing.  His appointment allows us to leverage our existing talent and reward superior performance.

Prior to joining Interstate in 1998, Lombardo served as cash manager for ICF Kaiser International, Inc., an international construction/consulting firm.

Lombardo holds a bachelors degree in business administration from James Madison University.

George Brennans new position expands his oversight of corporate-wide marketing and revenue management to include all sales efforts for the companys managed portfolio of nearly 300 hotels.  Brennan previously held the same position with Interstate Hotels Corporation prior to its 2002 merger with MeriStar Hotels & Resorts to form Interstate Hotels & Resorts.

George has a proven track record in sales and marketing in a variety of hospitality related industries, said Bob Morse, Interstates chief operating officer.  With his range of experience, strong leadership skills, and his superior insights into evolving market demand generators and shifting customer needs, we expect him to play a key role as we begin to emerge from one of the most challenging periods the hospitality industry has ever experienced.

Brennan will report to Morse.  Reporting to Brennan will be Sean Worker, senior vice president of sales for the companys branded and luxury, independent properties, and Tom Bardenett, senior vice president of sales at Interstates select-service division, Crossroads.

Prior to joining Interstate in 1999, Brennan, a 30-year sales and marketing veteran, was senior vice president of marketing at Carnival Resorts & Casinos, where he was responsible for all corporate, hotels and casino marketing.  Previously, he was senior vice president of marketing for Eastern Airlines, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of all marketing functions.

He received his bachelors degree in business from the University of Massachusetts and is a member of the franchise marketing council at a number of the major hotel brands.
