Holiday Inn San Juan Undergoing a Multi-million
Reconstruction, Will be Managed by
Flagship Services Corporation


February 2004 - Isla Verde, Puerto Rico - Holiday Inn San Juan is currently undergoing a multi million reconstruction and renovation. The new hotel will be managed by Flagship Services Corporation, which in conjunction with the new owners will complete its ambitious deadline to open its doors the summer of 2004.

Numerous contractors are working in Holiday Inn San Juanís major renovation; among them, the architectural firm of McCullough & Dominguez; HBA Contractors, with over 30 years of experience in the construction and rehabilitation business in Puerto Rico, is the general contractor.  Engineer Olmar López of ITS is retrofitting and modernizing the hotelís mechanical systems. 

Internationally renowned hotel and award winning interior designer, Lynn Wilson of Coral Gables, FL, has been consigned the challenging venture of creating a contemporary tropical look in a casual elegant ambiance with her signature elegance.  Lynn was the interior designer for the San Juan Grandís major renovation in 1998 and has extensive Caribbean experience.

Holiday Inn San Juan is opening this summer to offer guests a full service 225 rooms hotel including 60 cabanas, each having direct pool access; a complete new lobby, new port-a-cocher; two themed restaurants, a Davidís Cookies Coffee & Pastry Bar and a convenience/souvenir shop.  The hotel will also feature a full service Business Center, Concierge Services, a Dollar Rent-A-Car on site, Laundry service, Parking and Valet service.

Also, a total new pool area with an exquisitely designed garden will result from this major renovation.  All the rooms will have new bathrooms, new soundproof glass windows and new air conditioning throughout the guest rooms and the hotel areas.  In addition, Holiday Inn San Juan will have two Ballrooms with approximately 14,000 sq. ft of conference and meeting space with capabilities of for up to 550 persons, eight Meeting Rooms, a unique Garden function area and full Banquet facilities. 

Holiday Inn San Juan was purchased and is being renovated through the financing provided by Scotiabank of Puerto Rico with guarantees from the Tourism Development Fund.  Also, the Hotel Development Corporation is an equity partner in the venture with Flagship Services Corporation who is the major stockholder and operator of the new Holiday Inn San Juan.  Flagship previously operated and managed the San Juan Grand Beach Resort and Casino, presently operates the Rincón Beach Resort, the Caparra Country Club, the soon-to-open Costa Bonita Resort in Culebra, and San Juan Airport Hotel & Conference Center, presently undergoing major renovation at the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport.
