Marriott ExecuStay Names Elizabeth Karp, GM for
ExecuStay in the Greater Washington, D.C. Area,
General Manager of the Year 
.
Washington, D.C. - Feb. 24, 2004 - Three individuals, two teams and six markets were honored earlier this month by Marriott ExecuStay at its annual awards banquet, held during the Marriott Extended Stay Conference in San Francisco.

Taking GM of the Year for the second year in a row was Elizabeth Karp, general manager for ExecuStay in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Ms. Karp was saluted for her superb market and sales leadership, community service, market profitability and cross-market sales activity.  

Other individual winners were Associate of the Year Jenny Timmins, senior manager, general accounting, cited most notably for working evenings and weekends to assist in the conversion of STAR to OSCAR; and Operations Manager of the Year Karl Wertzberger, senior operations manager for Texas, for outstanding performance, organization and flexibility during that market's transition from managed to franchised.

Winning the two team awards were ExecuStay's Philadelphia office, saluted as Sales Team of the Year, managed markets; and the Columbus ExecuStay operation, as Sales Team of the Year, franchised markets.  Columbus Preferred operates ExecuStay's corporate housing business in Columbus.

The six markets honored included:

  • New York, with the Mustang Award, for distinguishing itself in 2003 with a year-end occupancy above 90 percent despite challenging economic conditions;
  • Raleigh, Managed Market of the Year;
  • Tampa, Franchised Market of the Year, for Mainsail Management Group;
  • Philadelphia, Managed Cross-Selling Market of the Year;
  • Seattle, Franchised Cross-Selling Market of the Year, for Executive Residence, Inc.; and 
  • South Florida, Highest GSS for Overall Experience; to franchisee Temporary Housing Systems of FL.
Joe Lavin, executive vice president and managing director for ExecuStay, said, "All of our eleven winning individuals, teams and markets demonstrated outstanding performance throughout a year marked by a mixture of challenging economic conditions and exciting, transitional growth for ExecuStay."
