 Choice Hotels� Victor G. Trapani Award Awarded to
Four Franchise Sales Directors: Robert O�Leary,
Tesh Patel, Steve Waguespack and Guy Gridley
SILVER SPRING, Md.  (Feb. 6, 2004) -- Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE:CHH) recently honored its top-selling franchise sales and development team with awards for outstanding sales performance and dedication for the year 2003.  The awards celebrate record franchise development for the company in 2003, with 470 new contracts executed, representing more than 41,000 rooms.  This performance marks the first time the company has topped the 40,000 room level in a single year.

�Thirty-two out of 35 sales associates exceeded their year-end goals for deals and rooms in 2003,� said Chuck Ledsinger, Choice  Hotels� president and CEO.  �This is a tremendous testimony to the marketability of our brands and to the talent, resourcefulness and professionalism of our sales team.�

�Choice Hotels has made a concerted effort to augment and enhance our franchise sales team and to bring a greater focus to our development efforts,� said Joe Squeri, senior vice president, franchise development and chief financial officer.  �This team of seasoned sales professionals was able to package the attributes of our franchise system and successfully prevail in a very competitive marketplace.  Many distinguished properties and experienced hoteliers joined the Choice hotel system in 2003.  We applaud the professionalism and success of our sales team.�

Choice Hotels� highest sales achievement award � the Victor G. Trapani Award for Sales Excellence � was given to four franchise sales directors:  Robert O�Leary, Tesh Patel, Steve Waguespack and Guy Gridley. 

The Victor G. Trapani Award, presented each year to an outstanding sales professional, is named in memory of a Choice Hotels franchise sales executive who lost his battle to cancer in 1995.

O�Leary is responsible for selling Quality and Clarion franchises in Florida and Georgia.  Both Patel and Waguespack are responsible for selling Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites franchises - Patel in Florida and Georgia and Waguespack in Oklahoma and Texas.  Guy Gridley is responsible for selling Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn franchises throughout New England.

The winners of the Victor G. Trapani Award were selected from among the recipients of Choice Hotels� President�s Award, which honors franchise sales professionals who achieve or exceed their performance quotas.

In addition to O�Leary, Patel, Waguespack and Gridley, recipients of the 2003 President�s Award are: Bill Balletto, Ford Barton, Kevin Bradt, Alex Chopra, Dennis Daughety, David Harjung, Alex Kono, Andrew Kono, David Larsen, Leslie Lovell Klanchar, Barry Morris, Tom Nee, Dale Palmer, Craig Ragland, Jim Rudeau, Art Sabo, Jerry Sheaks, Sammy Smith, Richard Sprecher, George Stallwood, Milt Steiner, Mark Sutton, Chris Thomas, Pat Thomas, Bill Wootton and Steve Youchak.

Choice Hotels also conferred the Rookie of the Year Award on Dennis Daughety, responsible for selling Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn franchises in Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia.
