October 6th 2003 - Visual One Systems
are delighted to announce the signing of a contract to supply Front Office,
Sales and Catering and Point of Sales systems to Beales Hotels.
Beales Hotels are a well established privately owned UK Company, founded
in 1769, run by Andrew Beale the eighth generation of the family. Beales
Hotels consists of three hotels with conference facilities operating on
the edge of North London (West Lodge Park), Hertfordshire (Hatfield Beales
Hotel) and Buckinghamshire (Buckingham Beales Hotel).
West Lodge Park is a four star country house hotel set in 35 acres of
exceptional grounds including an arboretum. West Lodge Park is the highest
rated four-star hotel in Herfordshire and North London. The 59 individually
decorated bedrooms combine comfort with elegance.
West Lodge Park is steeped in history as can be seen from the following
historical extract:
The Enfield Chase, an area of 8,000 acres stretching from Barnet to
Edmonton, was enclosed in 1136 by Geoffrey de Mandeville, and stocked with
fallow deer. In 1419 it was divided for administrative purposes into three
parts, and it is believed that the three lodges, East, South and West Lodge,
were originally built about this time. The lodges provided residences for
the bailiffs whose duty was to protect the Chase from local people poaching
the deer and cutting down the trees for firewood.
The Chase passed to the Crown in 1421 after Mary de Bohun had married
King Henry IV, and remained part of the Duchy of Lancaster for five centuries.
In Tudor and Stuart times it was used for hunting deer and sometimes wild
boar. King Henry VIII, who loved hunting, once stayed for a week at West
Lodge with his Queen, Catherine of Aragon, and the keepers who were accused
of cutting down too many trees explained that large fires had been lit
to keep warm the company of noblemen and gentlemen waiting for the king
to return from his hunting. |
Buckingham Beales Hotel is a comfortable hotel with 70 en-suite bedrooms,
5 conference suites, 7 purpose built syndicate rooms, restaurant with carvery,
table d'hote menu, bar, lounge and leisure club with swimming pool,
Jacuzzi, gym, sauna, steam room, solarium, and car park.
Hatfield Beales Hotel is scheduled for opening in August 2004 after
major re-furbishment to the existing hotel. The new hotel will consist
of 53 Double / Twin Bedrooms, 6 new Conference & Banqueting Rooms,
Restaurant, Bar and two Lounge areas.
