SuiteSpeed Showcases Wireless Internet Management
Gateway at International Hotel/Motel &
Restaurant Show®
HSIA Management Console Puts Control of ROI in Hotels’ Hands

Louisville, CO (November 6, 2003) - SuiteSpeed, the hospitality industry’s choice for innovative wireless and wired Internet access solutions without boundaries, announced today that it will showcase SuiteLink™, a High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) control console for hotels, at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS), November 8 – 11, 2003, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  SuiteLink™ allows hotels to control all aspects of their wired or wireless Internet access networks that affect return on investment including pricing, bandwidth allocation, billing method, and duration of connection.

The SuiteLink™ Visitor-Based Network (VBN) gateway enables hotel operators to administer all rooms and common areas, including lobby, restaurant, meeting space, and pool, on SuiteSpeed’s SuiteNet Internet access network. Using the VBN management console, the hotel can manage HSIA parameters as well as service packaging.  By controlling every facet of the network, the hotel can also manage the speed and magnitude of return on investment for SuiteNet, optimizing guest-generated revenues from wired and wireless services.

“With over 4.7 million WiFi users this year and estimates to reach 17.5 million by 2005 , hotel operators are not asking if they should implement wireless,” said Michael Wasik, President of SuiteSpeed.  “They are asking when, and that answer is driven by ROI.  By providing a tool to manage profitability, SuiteSpeed is enabling hotels to control ROI and the when of wireless deployments.”

The cost of deployment and ongoing service has been one of the primary obstacles to HSIA deployment.  But now as ROI becomes less of an issue and new profit generating capabilities are revealed, more hotels are adopting wireless HSIA hot spot strategies.   For example, Gartner projects that the number of public WLAN hot spots will grow to more than 71,000 in 2003 with 9.3 million users worldwide.

“SuiteLink provides the tools I need to always know the status of my WiFi network -- from how many users are on, to the most popular access points on property,” said Bev McCabe, CIO for Bartell Hotels, the owner of the Best Western Island Palms Hotel & Marina in San Diego.  “By managing the network’s configurable elements, I was able to control my rate of return and start generating profits much sooner than expected through the hotel’s SuiteNet network that includes 97 guest rooms, our meeting area, restaurant, and marina.”

SuiteSpeed is one of the highlighted exhibitors in the Technology Innovation Center at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS), November 8 – 11, 2003, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. SuiteSpeed will be in booth 3187, located on level three.  At the show, SuiteSpeed will be distributing free copies of a tutorial on hotel Internet access, “Wired or Wireless Internet:  Five Decision Steps for Hotels”.

The IH/M&R Technology Innovation Center, presented in cooperation with Hospitality Upgrade magazine, will showcase inventive ways to streamline business and increase profitability. This exhibit area will feature companies with the most up-to-date software, information services, wireless and Internet solutions available.
