This is a return to Hyatt for Mr. Shindler, as he spent ten years at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, most recently as Senior Vice President of Development until October 1996. In his newest role at Hyatt, Mr. Shindler will work on both international and domestic acquisition and development matters.  He will report directly to Steve Goldman, Executive Vice President of Development and Acquisitions, Hyatt Corporation.

Most recently, Shindler served as Vice President of Development for RockResorts International, LLC, the luxury lodging subsidiary of Vail Resorts, Inc. for which he was responsible for new hospitality acquisitions and development.

Before joining RockResorts, Mr. Shindler was Vice President of Development, Americas, for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.  In this position, he oversaw sourcing, negotiating, and concluding transactions for Mandarin Oriental?s anticipated growth in the Western Hemisphere. 

Prior to joining Hyatt in 1986 as associate general counsel, Mr. Shindler served as First Vice president-Development and vice president-corporate operations for the Balcor Company located in Skokie, Illinois.  Before joining Balcor, Shindler was a partner and associate in the Chicago, Illinois law firm now known as Katten, Muchin Zavis and Roseman.

Mr. Shindler received his AB in political science from the University of North Carolina in 1973 and his JD from Washington University in St. Louis in 1973.  He has spoken and written extensively on the relationship between hotel management and the legal system, most recently having published articles in the Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly and LODGING, the periodical published by the American Hotel and Lodging Association.  In addition, Mr. Shindler has lectured to both graduate and undergraduate hospitality classes at University of Denver and The Ohio State University.

Mr. Shindler and his family will reside in Chicago.
