CANCUN, Mexico (November 13, 2003) � Marriott
and Renaissance Caribbean & Mexico Resorts has appointed Germinal Garcia
Director of Sales and Marketing for the CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort
and JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa.
In his new position, Garcia will oversee all sales and marketing functions for both resorts and will be responsible for property reactive sales, proactive account sales, local and social catering sales, as well as business travel sales. Garcia will be responsible for achieving revenue goals, guest and associate satisfaction and the financial performance of the department. He will also lead the on-property outlet marketing team and coordinate all public relations activities for both properties. "He brings a great deal of Caribbean hospitality industry expertise and we are confidant he will play an integral role in the continued success of our Cancun resorts." Most recently, Garcia was Director of Marketing and Sales at the JW Marriott Caracas Hotel where he managed the grand opening of the property. Prior to this position, he served as Resident Manager and Director of Marketing and Sales for the Guatemala City Marriott Hotel. Garcia began his career with Marriott in January 1999 at the San Salvador Marriott in El Salvador as Director of Marketing and Sales. Garcia has also held similar positions with Hotel InterContinental in Costa Rica and with Sheraton Cancun in Mexico. Garcia earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Public Relations & Advertising from University of Southern Colorado.
