If You Could Stay at any Hotel Chain of Your Choice,
Which One Would You Pick?
Holiday Inn and Mariott Are Americans' Favorite Hotel Chains

November 3, 2003 - Holiday Inn and Marriott are Americans' favorite hotel chains, according to a recent study by Opinion Research Corporation . In the national study of 1,034 adults, Holiday Inn was preferred by 18%, Marriott by 16%. All other hotels were chosen by fewer than 10% of respondents.

Among the study's other findings, Holiday Inn is more popular than average among 18-24 year olds (31%), adults living in rural areas (26%), adults in the Midwest (23%) and those with a high school education or less (23%). However, even among the most-affluent and best-educated, Holiday Inn is tied for second place with Hilton, with Marriott the favorite. Marriott enjoys above-average numbers among adults in the West (21%) and those living in households earning $75,000 or more annually (23%).

The "Favorite Hotel" study was conducted by Opinion Research Corporation's CARAVAN(R) among a nationally representative sample of 1,034 adults August 15-18, 2003. The study has a margin of error of +/- 3% at the 95% confidence level.
