Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott Hotel and Conference
Center, Marriott’s first Resort Hotel in Texas, On
Schedule for October 2004 Opening
Horseshoe Bay, Tex. – Dec. 5, 2003 – The Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, Marriott’s first resort hotel in Texas and the only one in the heart of Texas’ famed Hill Country near Austin, is on schedule and will open in Oct. 2004.

Located in the 6,500-acre Horseshoe Bay Resort on the shores of Lake LBJ, the 349-room Marriott will include 105 suites and more than 22,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting space – including a 12,000-square-foot ballroom – on one floor.  An additional 4,000 square feet of meeting space is available upon request through Horseshoe Bay Resort.  According to Joe Reardon, director of sales and marketing, many of the unique pre-function meeting spaces will feature lake and Hill Country views.

Mr. Reardon said that guests of the new Marriott will have access to Horseshoe Bay Resort amenities: three Robert Trent Jones, Sr. championship golf courses, Ram Rock, Slick Rock and Apple Rock; the one-of-a-kind, 18-hole landscaped and night-lit Whitewater putting course; the full-service Horseshoe Bay Resort Bayside Fitness Club and Spa, featuring a wide range of body treatments, massage services, and a television- and VCR-equipped fitness club with personal training services and exercise classes; world-class tennis; watercraft rentals; four outdoor resort-style pools; whirlpools with Hill Country views; bicycle rentals; a cozy private beach; and a private, 6,000-foot airport runway that can accommodate up to a DC-9 jet.

“State associations and Texas-based businesses that have been itching for a true resort property in the heart of the Texas Hill Country are already booking for 2004 and beyond,” said Mr. Reardon.  “Others in the state and around the country who have long been charmed by the lore of the Texas Hill Country’s unique, laid-back spirit and beauty can now experience it in ways that will leave them totally relaxed and rejuvenated.  With Texas’ best-kept secret now out of the bag, people are intrigued and are booking their next meeting at Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott.”

Mr. Reardon said that the new hotel’s first booking was the Texas Hospital Association, which will hold a board retreat in 2005.  Joe A. DaSilva, senior vice president for THA and immediate past chairman for the Texas Society of Association Executives, said, “Business organizations and associations should be very pleased to have a beautifully designed, state-of-the-art Marriott hotel at Horseshoe Bay Resort.  THA is thrilled to give our board members a new and exciting meeting experience in Texas’ breathtaking Hill Country.”

Mr. Reardon announced that he has begun building his sales team, with five members now in place:  Susan Greenberg, Certified Meeting Professional and senior sales manager, who will celebrate her 20th year in the hospitality industry in 2004; Kevin Palermo, senior sales manager, a 10-year Marriott veteran and native Texan; Tiffany Jayne, sales manager, who brings eight years of resort experience to the new Marriott; Elizabeth Dossman, sales manager, who joins the new hotel after serving in sales for the Hyatt Regency-Austin; and Kendra Hamann, marketing assistant, an Austin native who has been with Marriott for nearly two years.  Additional seasoned hoteliers will be added to the sales team as the opening draws nearer.
