After Six Years in Development, Developers Michael
and Thomas Forman Project a Spring 2004
Opening for Elk Mountain Resort in Colorado
RIDGWAY, Colorado. (December 11, 2003) - After six years in development, developers Michael and Thomas Forman today announced a projected opening date of late spring 2004 for Elk Mountain Resort, a new luxury destination situated on 275 acres of spectacular mountain property in southwest Colorado.  Located just 40 minutes outside of Telluride, Elk Mountain Resort will combine breathtaking natural beauty with year-round outdoor activities, five-star service and luxurious accommodations for couples, families and executive groups of all sizes.

Surrounded by pristine National Forests on three sides and the 14,000-foot-high peaks of the San Juan Mountains, Elk Mountain Resort will be comprised of 21 luxury lodge rooms and 18 three-bedroom, two-story cottages offering an array of floor plans.  Each of the Resort's 46 individual buildings is carefully positioned on the heavily wooded property so that each guest enjoys the perfect blend of convenience and seclusion.

"Elk Mountain Resort features a secluded and majestic mountain setting that many describe as 'the Switzerland of America,'" said Thomas Forman.  "Whether planning a romantic escape for two, a family reunion, a fully-catered wedding, or a corporate retreat, our guests will find their every wish accommodated and their stay at Elk Mountain Resort truly memorable."

At the center of Elk Mountain Resort will be the two-story Main Lodge, a common area for guests designed to evoke a 19th century hunting lodge.  Overlooking spring-fed Tait Lake, the Main Lodge will have an 80-seat, five-star dining restaurant featuring regional cuisine, 160-seat outdoor dining deck, 60-seat lounge, 27-seat cigar bar, billiard tables, general store, concierge and lobby.  Elk Mountain Resort's Main Lodge will also offer several corporate meeting rooms complete with state-of-the-art audio/visual conferencing technologies.

Each guest room at Elk Mountain Resort will be uniquely decorated, with custom designed and handcrafted furniture designed to suit a variety of guest needs.  Twenty-one Luxury Lodge Rooms, all of which open onto a long wooden deck, will feature four-post, wrought iron king-sized beds or hand-stenciled headboards and footboards, Euro-down pillows, 450-thread count linen and European goose down comforters.  Each Luxury Lodge bathroom will be adorned with a large soaking tub, double pedestal sinks with brushed nickel hardware, lighting and slate floors.
Eighteen two-story, three-bedroom cottages will each provide 2,400-square feet of living space, including Great Room with wood-burning fireplace and 26-foot cathedral ceiling, full-size kitchen and dining area and three well-appointed bathrooms.  Modern amenities for all guest rooms at Elk Mountain Resort will include 32" or 20" LCD televisions, radios, CD players, DVD players, dual-line cordless telephones, Frette robes and premium-stocked minibars.

Equally ideal for family fun or corporate team building, additional activities at Elk Mountain Resort will include five-star cooking/wine tasting classes, nature tours, artist-in-residence seminar series, hayrides, sleigh rides and Indian storytelling.  Among Elk Mountain's Resort's special features is the exclusive Valhalla Shooting Club, an elite gentleperson's facility offering expert training and advice in clay shooting including skeet, trap and 5-stand.

Additional meeting and special event space at Elk Mountain Resort will include a 160-seat hillside wedding chapel, a 20-seat wine cellar for private dining and wine tasting, two greenhouses with seating for up to 10 guests, a hillside tearoom for small luncheons or private dinners and two mountainside outdoor seminar areas.

Elk Mountain Resort is located 40 minutes from the resort haven of Telluride, Colorado, one of the most popular ski destinations in North America.  Elk Mountain Resort is also within a 20-minute drive from the area's main airport in Montrose, and a short drive to the scenic town of Ouray and a host of National Parks and Forests, including the breathtaking Black Canyon National Park.

Elk Mountain Resort is a member of Small Luxury Hotels.
